Spoilers are an excellent tool for making opt-in content. A lot of people also use spoilers to tuck away secondary content and clean up their articles. In some of those cases it might work nicer to show the content when the page loads, and let the reader hide it if they want to.

[spoiler|open]You can hide this text!|Hide me![/spoiler]I suggest adding a | to make it consistent with other bb code like tagged lists. I'm happy with other solutions. Adding the ability for a spoiler to load open enables a bunch of new formatting:
- Collapsible sections
- Tuck away a long section of text after you're done reading
- Opt out of elements that can make navigation on mobile tricky (like embedded maps, pdfs and diplomacy webs)
- Hide placeholders in fancy formatted sections, like Summercamp article overviews.
- Accordions with one pre-opened spoiler to show you how it works

Thanks for your suggestion! The point of spoilers is that they always load closed so the user isn't spoiled, so this will be implemented as a new BBCode tag rather than a parameter for the spoiler button.
