Articles Finding-new-articles Randomize
What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?
There exist thousands upon thousands of articles in World Anvil, and only a fraction of them are ever visible on the Article Community Page. A randomized option could open up them all for a chance to be found again by readers.
How does this feature request address the current situation?
By adding a randomized option, one has the possibility to find articles -- and subsequently worlds -- one would otherwise not be able to discover and enjoy. Ones' that would otherwise have been hidden behind the sheer number of articles.
What are other uses for this feature request?
None I am currently aware of.
The Team's Response
This request has not reached the required number of votes or community support during its voting time
One of the greatest issues we have found in the past when we had discussions about this was the idea that there are articles that people might not want to show that would mean even more checkboxes and options to an interface that is already, by necessacity overburdened. The current specification for this is a tag like [random:HASHTAG] or [random:ARTICLETYPE] that would only show articles that are visible to the person currently viewing the world. This already leaves a lot of questions and parametarization.
In conclusion, as you can see I am more than happy to entertain the idea but because this is not as simple as it sounds it will require greater community support to be implemented.
