Bohl

Bohl is a traveling bard, a reluctant warlock of Horak, and a member of the party.   A half-orc abandoned by his tribe as an infant, Bohl was found by a a kindhearted halfling musician, Merric Braedenburn, and raised in his peaceful village. As Bohl grew, his boistrous good humor (and physical size!) became a boon to his community. His adopted father trained him in music and the bardic arts, and recited to him the legend of the strange sword displayed behind glass in the village's central hall...a foreign blade from a distant land that had corrupted its weilder, and an object lesson for all who would sacrifice righteousness for power.   Approximately three years ago, Bohl's village was raided by a band of marauders. In desperation, Bohl seized the forbidden sword, which was in fact an artifact of Horak. He entered into a pact with the scarab god, who cursed him with eldrich powers. When he awoke from his catatonic frenzy, the marauders lay slaughtered...but so did Bohl's beloved mentor. The skin of Bohl's forearm was now indelibly etched with Horak's terrible sigil.   In anguished guilt, Bohl left his village and traveled the world, searching for clues to the meaning of the sinister glyph upon his skin. His investigation brought him at last into the very palace of Zahar, where he performed alongside other hired musicians at one of the sultan Rashad's lavish parties. As fate would have it, this was the very night Chandra staged her escape from her husband's harem. Ever helpful, Bohl aided her escape by distracting the palace guards' lions and the two fled into the slums of outer Zahar.

It was here that Bohl met Matthias and Xandu and the party embarked upon their first quest against Rashad. Bohl tangled with crocodiles, giant beetles, and mummies to retreive Nephotep's Codex, and faced Goli Ghorbani and the Janissaries of Zahar to see the codex destroyed. Among the Waziri Clan, Bohl met Saka, and the five of them set out for the City of Brass on the genie airship The Evening Breeze.

After reliving his memories of Merric at the Island Mausoleum, Bohl tossed his pact weapon decisively into the lava of the Smoldering Divide. What sort of response could this provoke from his former patron?
