The Storm That Shifted Time

A hundred billion years ago the entire Yonderverse faced one of its greatest disasters, the Storm that Shifted Time. This cataclysmic event sent the future and the past crashing into the present, bringing destruction across galaxies.

History

A great storm raged through the Time Dimension a hundred billion years ago, disrupting the flow of time. Typically, time flows in one direction at one speed, but the storm caused the liquid to flow in all directions. Since the Time Dimension acts as a spirit dimension, i.e. it cannot by physically accessed but it overlaps with other dimensions, nobody knew about this storm, but there were tangible effects.

The change in the flow of time dragged things from the past and future to the present. This most notably included planets, solar systems, galaxies, and worst of all, black holes. As time went on, as best as it could, things were dragged from farther in the past and farther in the future. Entire civilisations, primitive beyond one's imaginations, were forced to compete with the present sophonts, and cultures so far into the future, with science and magic skills infinitely more complex than the present day, were able to claim much of the Yonderverse as their own.

The effects lasted thousands of years (or maybe just a few minutes, nobody knows), until the fabled Time Soldiers arrived on scene. This mythical fleet of soldiers exist in the Time Dimension, and manage any altered flows of time. Nothing as big as this storm had ever been seen before, which is why it took so long to fix.

When the storm's effects had been reversed, present day returned to normal. Unfortunately, the Time Soldiers cannot alter people's memories, so the traumatic events still lived in people's minds, manifesting into myths and legends that still live on today.

Cultural Impact

If you ask someone what the worst disaster in the history of the Yonderverse was, they'd probably say the Storm that Shifted Time. Or the time when sliced bread was banned in the Milky Way, those were dark times. Everybody in space knows about this event; artworks depicting this disaster are plastered in every historical building in the cosmos.

The image to the right is an artistic depiction of several planets colliding after exiting a time wormhole. It is one of the more famous art pieces, and with public use on Utopia, it is seen on newspaper headers whenever the topic is brought up.

Everae Rule

The Storm That Shifted Time by Mochi

During the aftermath of the Storm, the planet Everae crashed into present day from the far-away future. These people were advanced enough to know about the Time Dimension, and so when they found their way into present day it did not take them long to figure out what had happened.

The everaeans were incredibly powerful people, with even the lowest class citizens having the power to wipe out entire galaxies with just a thought. Their technologies were so complex that nobody in the current present day have the capacity to comprehend their inner workings, and these people believed in an oppressive society.

The everaeans were quick to take control of the Yonderverse in their new time period, forcing those beneath them into labour, which just so happened to be every single person in the Yonderverse. To control people they threatened to wipe out planets, solar systems, and galaxies, and they even vaporised a few to show they meant business. For as long as it took the Time Soldiers to reverse the effects of the Storm, these people ruled the Yonderverse.

I love the idea that this event is the source of a lot of myths and legends in the Yonderverse. Sounds rather horrifying.   Also nooooo, not the sliced bread!

This is brutal. I'm glad tho that even if the everaeans were so powerful they weren't strong enough so that they had won over the time soldiers and stayed controlling the yonderverse. The time soldiers sound like a powerful bunch. Also banning sliced bread?!?!? HOW DARE?

This is a really fascinating idea, having people and cultures from all over time collide. Are their any remnants of those events, or has everything been restored perfectly? Also who the heck bans sliced bread and why? That's just pure evil!

This event very much feels like it would have left some relics behind... ;)   Related, I very much want to hear about any love affairs between people of different times. What would the time soldiers do with children born to such parents?

Definitely.... ;)   That would be super interesting! I never thought about that :O Well maybe there could be some prompts that might fit xD

The worst thing wasn't the time storm but the oppressive Everaeans! Glad they were put back in their box.
