Personal history
Simon was quick and studious; he was at the top of his class throughout his training. In his cohort, he was Captainalis all but one year from the age of 13 to 18. He held officer positions throughout his Cadet years; Commandalis of his house of three cohorts when he was 17, Generalis when he was 18, and Centurianalis from 19 onward until his cohort underwent The Dreaming shortly after he turned 22.
He was expected to almost immediately take command of a Cohort upon completing his Dreaming and then rise quickly through the Sekhaim ranks; instead he turned around and accepted the offer of a highly respected Guardianatus to start training him for the Guardian branch of service. Still for a time, it was thought he'd go far, to become the Prime Warden or even higher someday. However, his first posting as a Guardian was to the Seawolf family, for the Lord's young son Roarke, and when he and his partner were called upon to be reassigned, he refused, electing to stay with the Seawolf family and effectively end his possible rise through the ranks.
Alongside protecting Roarke, Simon took a Guardianalis, Jory. The practice of taking a direct trainee who never attended training at the Temple and was never part of a cohort was a historical one that was highly frowned upon in the present day; it further ostracized Simon from the Temple and his Sekhaim superiors. It also alienated Jory; Simon offered every year from the time the boy was 10 until he was 15 to send him away to join a Cohort and learn the traditional way, with a promise to take him back the moment he passed his Dreaming, but Jory stubbornly refused.
When Roarke's younger brother and illegitimate Seawolf son Luthien was 13 and sent away by Lord Calder to school, Simon accepted Roarke's request that he go with him, and Jory's request that he train Luthien's best friend Fletchor Silverhold in much the same way that he had trained Jory.

Morality & Philosophy
That being said, Simon is a fairly black-and-white thinker. There is Right, and there is Wrong; he is just only interested in determining what that is for himself, not having it dictated to him by others. Once he has determined a cause is Right, he would die for it; and yes, that makes him a stubborn jerk sometimes, and slow to accept change. He prefers to see the evidence of need for change with his own eyes.

History
Simon trained Jory from the time he was 10 to be a Guardian, and specifically to be Roarke's Guardian. He regards the younger Sekhaim as a son.
History
Simon has been Roarke's primary bodyguard since he was born, joined by a rotating cast of others until Jory was ready to take the second spot, and then it was Simon and Jory. He loves him almost like a son and is incredibly loyal to him - but also won't hesitate to call him out when he thinks he's wrong. He did basically raise him, after all.
Nicknames & Petnames
Simon has been known to call Roarke 'Little Wolf', 'Cub', and when he was little, 'My Lordling'.
History
Simon transferred from being Roarke's bodyguard to Luthien's only at Roarke's direct request. He has watched Luthien grow up and does know him, but does not quite love him as well as he does Roarke.
Nicknames & Petnames
Simon has been known to call Luthien 'Little Wolf', 'Cub', 'My Lordling', and 'Trouble'.
History
Simon was perhaps never intending to train another Guardian, not officially, but he has agreed to train Fletchor at Jory's direct request and because he says he 'sees something in the boy'.
History
Since Simon is technically attached to Lastar Temple, Igerius is technically his Centurian, though those lines are fairly blurry between Guardians and non-Guardians. They were Cadets together, though not in the same Cohort; they are fond of each other, despite all outward appearances, but rule-following Igerius struggles with Simon's choices to train Jory and now Fletchor outside of the Sekhaim norms, as well as his choice to stay just a Guardian and not advance up the ranks.
