Shadim Kevian Spelloyal (a.k.a. Kev)

Kevian Spelloyal is the husband of Taskin Dal, a cleric of Shadi, and eventually becomes Luthien Seawolf's mentor. He is an accomplished mage and dedicated scholar.

Personal history

Kevian is a true Cleric of Shadi, whose encounters with the deity extend beyond his Dreaming. He is also a mage, and a powerful one. He serves his order in many ways, being sent hither and there to perform magic for various Temples, but above all he is a scholar of magic itself, with a focused interest in the various arts of dreams and divination.
Kevian was raised a Shadim acolyte for as long as he has memories. The Shadim told him that his mother had realized he was a powerful magic-user as a toddler, and felt ill-equipped to raise him both as a single mother and a non-magic-user so she gave him up before he even was old enough to have memories of her.
When he was 24, Kevian met Taskin Dal. Taskin, 30, had been in the Empire for a couple of years learning about the Eschien people. They hit it off almost immediately, but Kevian's duties as a new Shadim and Taskin's own research kept them moving around on different paths, so it was a long distance relationship for about three years. When Kevian was 27, he saved Taskin's life; he threatened to abandon the Senary before he would be separated from Taskin long-term again. They were married shortly after, and for two more years they traveled together, doing their best to balance their respective duties. When Kevian was 29, Taskin was offered a job as a teacher at the Lastar Temple of the Senary, and he took it, and then three years later he became a cohort parent as well.
Four years into their experience of co-parenting a bunch of boarding school teenagers, Luthien Seawolf arrived at the Temple and was placed in Taskin's cohort. Kevian and Luthe became close quickly; they bonded over magic, and lonely childhoods, and because Luthien was young enough to readily accept the addition of two more foster-fathers to his life. When Luthien had an encounter with Shadi himself, about a year into his stay at Lastar, Kevian was assigned as his Guardianatus.

Sexuality

Kevian is married to and in a committed relationship with Taskin, who identifies as non-binary. Taskin is his only sexual or romantic interest, though Taskin occasionally pursues other relationships (with Kevian's blessing).

Employment

As a cleric, Kevian's main employment is at the behest of those above him in the Temple ranks. His main speciality is as a healer; but very specialized. He helps heal people who have issues with their magic. On the side, he collects prophecies and keeps track of them, and quietly researches the ways that the Empire's hyper-specific training of magic users has both restricted and changed magic use.

Kevian was able to finally make Desily's acquantaince through the help of Taskin Dal. Desily is fascinated with Taskin, and was willing to help Kevian in order to get the opportunity to grill Taskin about his people. She has since come to be fairly fond of both of them, though Kevian still doesn't fully trust her and Taskin finds her baffling.
