It's World Ember time baby!!!!
Week 1:
So after taking a break from world anvil for a little bit so I don't burn myself out. I'm back and thinking about all the things in Violem I want to explore. Mostly a lot of current affairs and character driven stories in the present day of the world. So I think this year I want to really focus on short narratives and characters.
The goal is 10k words which I know is do-able since I hit 25k words last year. But I am also aware of Christmas and how busy things can get. So I'll stick with the minimum for now. A personal goal I started last year and want to carry on here is to set a word count for each article so I can really get into details about what I'm trying to write about. 500 words for a worldbuild-y article and 1000 words for more narrative stories.
I believe I already looked at metadate during Spooktober and I don't think my thoughts have changed too much on that so I haven't changed that much about them.
Overall, really excited to get started and can't wait to read everyone elses entries. Good luck to all :)
Week 2:
Hello people of the internet. So this week's prep I feel was something I had a quick look at. I did manage to shorten my world's opening primer to make it more readable and more concise (as oppose to the old jumbled mess of words). I also did try to rearrange a few articles to fill up some of the blank space of the right column. Hopefully it looks a little more presentable now.
I have been thinking about redesigning the book covers that appear on the home page for a while now and I think now is a good time to look into that. Although cause of the real world responsibilities that might not happen this week.
Now, time to focus on some more ideas for World Ember and expand on them further.
Week 3:
So, this week is all about inspiration but due to work being crazy I haven't had too much time to be looking for inspiration. But! I have been slowly adding to my pinterest board and looking through several pins to gain new ideas for potential characters or villains in the world.

I have also been going through years of old notepads and journals I've kept of ideas I've had and I have found a bunch of forgotten things I believe could work in my world as it is now. So, I may pivot from my original storytelling theme and add a few core elements that weave nicely into the the world. Or you know, just write whatever I feel as I tend to do in these sorts of contests.
Week 4:
This week has been so long for me and it looks like December will also be super busy at work. So having a prpep week dedicated to planning a schedule is exactly what I needed. i tend to write on Sundays anyway and I don't see any reason not to do that over Worldember month. But (and its a big one) I do have a few extra days off before Xmas which is the perfect time to stick my head down and write a load. So I will be dedicating that week to fully immersing myself in my stories.
As for fresh air, I am planning to meetup with some friends for Christmas dinner on the 1st, which will be a great break before I get started. So yeah, feeling prepped. Feeling pumped and feeling excited to get started. Good luck everyone participating :)
