Undying

The Undying are a created species, whose power is brought into being through the Holy Rite of Salvation. Any species can transformed by the Rite, but in doing so they lose most if not all of their specific racial qualities and take on those of the Undying.

Civilization and Culture

History

Near the end of the war between The Eltaran Empire and The Valcoran Empire, Empress Verona Elmahdy was said to have reached out in desperation, searching for a way to drive back the invaders from her land. It is unknown what answered her cry, but its power enveloped her and awoke her mind to and ancient ritual, which was in turn use on her, transforming her into the first of the Undying.   She then went on to preform the Rite upon her closest personal guards, who became known as The Hollow Legion. Each member was able to sustain tremendous wounds that would kill any other, without faltering a step. To the horror of the Eltaran army, they were also able to rise after taking lethal blows, and continue fighting, sometimes multiple times. As they drove the fleeing Eltaran's back, many chose to join their ranks, and with their might alone, the Eltaran armies were driven into the sea, or crushed into the dunes on Torrezon.     Since those days of old, rumors spread that the Undying that are created via the Rite have grown less and less powerful. While they still can survive a lethal blow with unnatural ease, they are seen now more of the elite of the military, rather than an unstoppable force of nature. They still hold a prominent place within the Empire, acting as priests and clerics in service to the Gods of Death, as well as being the elite of the military.

Darkvision
The Rite blesses the Undying with eyes keener than the normal man. You have Darkvision out to 60 ft. In darkness, you cant perceive colors, only soft white outlines.
Age
Undying do not age, they remain physically the exact age they were once the Rite was completed.
Death Holds No Power.
Undying are resistant to necrotic damage.
Not Food, Nor Drink, Nor Rest Of Night.
Undying do not require sleep in the standard sense, but something more akin to Elven Trance, resting for 5 hours at a time. They are fully conscience during this time, but if roused before the allotted time is up, they suffer a penalty of stupor (You have disadvantage on all rolls until you finish your rest). While Undying do need to eat and drink, they need to do so far less than normal, requiring only to eat once a week to survive. They may do sore more often if they choose.
Vigor of the Rite. When taking fatal damage, roll a Constitution Saving Throw, with the DC being 1+ the damage taken. If you succeed, you instead rise with a hit point total equal to your Constitution Modifier. You may do this as many times as your Constitution Modifier (minimum 1) per long rest. The DC scale increases by +2 for each time it is used in succession before your next long rest.
Rush of the Mist. Undying display an incredible agility compared to their more mortal kin. You may move across difficult terrain without expending extra movement.

Languages. Torrese, any languages they knew before becoming Undying.
