Chellesia

Government: Royal Council. A council of 5 noble houses votes upon national doctrine. These houses are appointed by ranking, with the 5 highest ranked houses gaining these council seats. A royal constitution prevents conflicts of interest and limits the powers of the governing body. Every 5 years, royal families are assessed and ranked by a complex equation that factors the families wealth, industry, cultural credit, and social credit. The equation used to create these rankings was developed by the Logicmasters, who act as a regulatory 3rd party in this political system.   Cultures: Cellan majority, with Elven and Hantzu minorities.   Official Religion: None   Population: 450,000     History: Chellesia's founding is somewhat lost to time. The country was believed to have formed around 400 4E, under a ruler whose name is lost to time. It was a small upstart kingdom like many that came and went in the 4th Epoch. The kingomd gradually grew in power through diplomacy and conquest, becoming a formidable contender in the region later into the century.   In 449 4E, the Chellesian Kingdom set out to conquer the Hantzu people, and in 450 4E they successfully did so. Upon doing so, they forced them into a Confederacy. The Chellesians were harsh occupiers, and the Hantzu a defiant people. Rebellions and insurgent activity plagued the province for years, until the Chellesian Kingdom withdrew in 455 4E, and the First Sovereignty was dissolved. After some decades of learning, as well as social and political progress, the Chellesian Kingdom sought to form a confederacy once more, this time using a healthy mix of diplomacy, dealing, spying, and threatening. The Kingdom began their efforts in earnest in 14 5E. By 23 5E, the final additions to the confederation had been made, and the New Sovereignty was declared as formed.   The New Sovereignty was a powerful country for many years. In 75 5E, the province of Densia seceeded from the federation to join the Duuleijir nation, and a few decades later religious turmoil caused violent rebellions within the province of Reshenia. Reshenia was later annexted by both the Darnesian Sultanate and Rashwanan Caliphate, whose war had likely destabilized the region in the first place. Then the Hantzu people left the federation themselves, forming the Shinoari nation, as their relations with their former occupiers had always been threadbare.   After the collapse of the New Sovereignty, Chellesia the nation returned to the world stage. Its identity is one of industry and production. Chellesia refrains from conflicts as much as possible, producing many basic goods in its factories and foundries. Some have called Chellesia glorified arms dealers, as armaments do comprise a significant portion of their production and exports.
