Logicmasters

Oremar formulated Oremars Theorem, an explanation to the sources of all magical power in the world. When he successfully manipulated the power of Logic to draw forth and command Aether (pure magical power), Oremar created the art of Logicmastery. He marked his discovery as the start of a new era, called the end of the 2nd Epoch and the start of the 3rd Epoch that day. Seeing that Logicmastery could be used to combat Sorcery, Oremar established a cult dedicated to the teaching and practice of Logicmastery, calling this cult the Order of the Logicmasters. The order is ruled by a Council of Mentats, the most powerful Logicmasters of the order.   The Logicmasters believe that dragonsblood is a corrupting thing, and that all Dragons and Sorcerers of draconic bloodlines are thus inherently corrupted. The Logicmasters set out to kill all Dragons and Sorcerers they could find to rid the world of the corruption of Dragons. The Logicmasters succeeded in their endeavor, which they called the Great Purge, having killed most of the worlds Sorcerers and Dragons. In doing so, they freed many nations from tyrannical rule. Yet, this left them leaderless and without guidance. Many nations fell to ruin and war as greed drove people to seek the seats of power that had been suddenly vacated. By the year 126 3E, the Logicmasters decided to begin a transition away from being an aggressive force, to a scholarly one. The Council of Mentats created the Crimson Guild, a group sponsored and guided by the Logicmasters, but not beholden to them, who would continue the task of hunting Dragons and Sorcerers.   The Logicmasters had worked for centuries to rid the world of tyrants who used magic to secure their rule. Vowing not to fall to the same temptation, the Logicmasters agreed they would never step into world politics unless magic was being used in a significant way to gain political power, or to hunt down any remaining Sorcerers and Dragons that are found. The Logicmasters sought to create their own sovereign. On the year 1 4E, the Logicmasters declared the nation of Meridan. The Logicmasters then turned to their studies, towards unraveling all the secrets of the Logic. This endeavor has occupied them to the present day, and has largely contributed to the modern technological boom.   The hierarchy within the Order of Logicmasters is very rigid. Initiates are accepted into training after a battery of written and practical testing. They attend the University of Meridian, undergoing an intense year of initial training, at the end of which they are either accepted into the Order or expelled. Upon being accepted, they are not yet fully fledged Logicmasters, instead titled Acolyte. Acolytes continue their schooling, and upon graduation are often delegated to a public service positions, teaching humility and duty to the Order. Some Acolytes are ushered past this phase of public service, and immediately placed in further advanced training if seen to have greater potential. After an extensive period of training, usually 5 years, sometimes decades, the Council of Mentats may choose to grant an Acolyte the status of Logicmaster. Through their career, a Logicmaster may strive for the rank of Mentat, which requires some kind of significant contribution towards the Order, and the blessing of Oremar himself. Mentats may then strive for the highest postion of all, a position upon the Council of Mentats, who are all appointed directly by Oremar.
