Aether Physical / Metaphysical Law in Vallonde | World Anvil

Aether

Aether is a substance of pure energy, a perfect combination of the four Masoritanist elements: fire, water, earth, and air. Aether is the energy that Logicmasters, Sorcerers, and various other spellcasters call upon when casting many of their spells. Aether is believed to exists both woven into the material plane, and as a reservoir that is separate from all planes. It can manifest in physical space in the form of a pale blue substance. Its physical manifestation is chaotic, behaving somewhat like a liquid, and somewhat like a heavy gas. It flows and pools as a liquid does, but will wisp and defy gravity much like a gas, especially when agitated. It emits a radiation in the form of vapors, which swirl in rainbow colors, barely visible to the eye. Aether, while manifested in the material space in its purest form, is corrosive to organic matter, and is liable to cause chaotic magical mutations and anomalies upon its surroundings.   The energy of Aether is measured in Vimms (Vm), named after Andria Vimmskonnen, the Logicmaster who pioneered the Aethershard in the 3rd Epoch. The rate of flow of Aether is called Vimm Flux (VmFx), which represents the amount of Vimms that flow within a span of 6 seconds (or 1 round of combat).
