3rd Epoch: Rise of Logic

Epoch Length: 126 years.   The discovery of the Logic is traced back to a Lizardfolk scholar named Oremar. The lizardfolk people had been fought over and oppressed by several Sorcerer Kings and Queens, who valued the Lizardfolk homelands (the Draconid Isles) for its richness in Esperite, a gemstone which could be fashioned into Aethershards. In his studies Oremar sought to wield magic without inheriting it, as the Sorcerers did through their bloodlines. He arrived at his infamous conclusion: Oremars Theorem. Using his theorem, he created Logicmastery, a system by which those who understand the utmost details of Logic can use it to call upon Aether and shape the power of Aether into spells. In some primitive cultures, this form of magic is called Wizardry.   Since anyone with the will and intelligence could learn Logicmastery, it quickly took hold. The use of Logicmastery was practiced in secrecy at first, by a cult in hiding from the Sorcerers of the world, which grew into a powerful group known as the Logicmasters. After gaining a significant enough following, the Logicmasters decided to take action. Using their power, the Logicmasters began the Great Purge. They systematically overthrew and destroyed all Sorcerers and Dragons they could find. Their order, hoping to learn from past mistakes, didn't take control of the nations the Sorcerers once ruled, choosing instead to leave the people of those nations to rule themselves as they wished. They would simply move on to the next nation, and rid it of Sorcery, and the corruption of dragonsblood. The Sorcerers tried to band together, but their greed and treachery had become such that they couldn't maintain strong enough alliances to contest the Logicmasters.   Near the end of this epoch, after the world had been freed from the grip of Sorcery and Dragons, the Logicmasters decided to found their own nation upon an island. They named their island nation Meridian, and vowed that their order would play no part in world politics, that they would merely seek to continue their discovery of the Logic, the inner workings of this world. The Logicmasters vowed they would only interfere when needed to further abolish Sorcery and Dragonkind, or if a threat to world balance emerged. In the wake of the Logicmasters work, there was a myriad of power vacuums. This began a series of wars and upheavals that will define the 4th Epoch, and create the foundations of most modern nations.   The end of this Epoch is marked by the official formation of the nation of Meridian, and the conclusion of the Great Purge.
