Crimson Guild Organization in Vallonde | World Anvil

Crimson Guild

Founded in 104 3E by the Logicmasters Council of Mentats, this guild was originally formed to create a platform through which civilians would be recruited, and trained to aid the Logicmasters in their hunting of Dragons and Sorcerers. Guild members were trained by Logicmasters, and developed knowledge and tactics to combat Sorcerers and Dragons without the use of magic themselves. The guild stockpiled weapons, armors, and materials towards that end, and their greatest members were as formidable as Logicmasters themselves. The guild used to be highly exclusive, it's members being rigorously trained, commanding respect wherever they went in the world.   As the years passed, the threat of Dragons and Sorcerers became nearly non-existent. The identity of the guild had to change in order to survive. The guild began to broaden their capabilities, specializing in hunting any dangerous beasts, monstrosities, undead, and aberrations. The guild struggled to make this transition, as their new identity was not one the Logicmasters were interested in supporting. The guild was near bankruptcy when it was saved by the International Adventurers Guild, who bought the guild from the Logicmasters. Old members of the guild were dismayed by this purchase, believing it has muddled the integrity, exclusivity, and high standard that the guild used to represent. Though its modern members may not be the stuff of legends, as their forebears were, they are nonetheless the best monster hunters in the world.   The most secretive sects of the guild practice forms of blood magic and alchemy, incorporating the very traits of the monsters they hunt to empower themselves. These members are deemed Blood Hunters, and are both feared and revered.    Members of the guild are identified by the infamous Crimson Crest, an image of a dragon impaled by a lance, which is worn by all members of the guild. Some members choose to have this crest carved upon their skin to form a scar, which is then enchanted. When the phrase "Sanguis pro sanguine" is uttered, the scar opens, and uses blood to fuel the enchantment, creating a holographic version of the Crimson Crest. This holographic crest has a unique magical signature that is nearly impossible to forge.
