Weather and Seasons
All weather effects seem to emanate from The Maw and follow in four seasons: Rain, Shine, Smog and Chill.Government
Ur has been ruled, for as long as anyone can remember, by the Shrouded Queen and her Rook Parliament, although they typically leave city denizens to themselves.
The Rook Parliament only enforce three laws:
- None may worship the Queen as a deity.
- Any who see the Queen in their dreams must submit themselves to the Parliament.
- No deity may enter Ur.
Guilds and Factions
Within the city a number of powerful factions have risen up to co-ordinate city life, forming the Council of the Orders.
The council forms the de facto government of the city, passing and enforcing laws on the inhabitants.
The other most powerful groups within the city are the merchant High Masks and the criminal Knights of the Road.
Geography
The city itself is a non-Euclidean hyper-plane, best imagined as a flat plane with the topology of a sphere. This geometry breaks down at the "poles" - the Shrouded Throne in the Rookery exists in its own space and the Maw is a void of nothingness.
Where Ley Lines enter the city they create a breach, a gate to another place which further contorts space. Some ley lines connect points within the city.
There are several rivers flowing through the city, each origionates at a grilled arch in the Rookery walls and flows into the Maw. The water is clean and pure near the ORder Halls and High Hall, but by the time it reaches the Nest it is much less sanitory.
