Events pertaining to the Golden Cow Challenge known as The White Rabbit Bowl, organized by the Gauntlet of Games' maestro, The Concierge.

    White Rabbit Bowl: Introduction
    Sporting Event / Competition

Following complaints from Yagokoro Tokuyo, the Cardinal Generals of the Hashinara traveled to Ise Province to render their assistance. The issue therein was that any rift Tokuyo attempted to open to the Dreamlands inevitably led to a place she'd never seen before, likely somewhere in the Enchanted Wood rather than Baharna as she normally visited. Further, a note from a mysterious individual known only as The Concierge indicated that this state of events would continue until the Hashinara generals visited to help him with a problem.

Transported to various corners of the expansive hedge maze in The Enchanted Wood, each of the Four Cardinal Generals took a moment to become acquainted with the Figment of Alice they had been paired to. Matsumoto Ooawagaeri had chosen Alice of Diamonds, who was revealed to be terse and rough, but with a strong sense of honor. Maxim ended up tied to Alice of Spades, who was aloof and practical. Aotsuki Tsukamoto, predictably, had thrown in his lot with Alice of Hearts, who was just as predictably sweet and earnest. Ryūzaki Sanosuke found himself in the company of Alice of Fools, unpredictable and morose. Finally, Hashinara Yoshitakatomo discovered that she* had not traveled far. Instead, she* stood now where The Concierge had moments before, and in front of her was Alice of Clubs: subtle, loyal, and ready for her* command.

    White Rabbit Bowl: Jabberwock
    Sporting Event / Competition

Without hesitation, the newly-minted Queen Alice raced forward and engaged The Jabberwock. Using Alice of Clubs’ martial skills and bastard sword, she struck several times at the beast, but it dodged each attack and countered in turn. Its biting jaws were unable to significantly damage its opponent, so it let forth another roar of frustration that could be heard throughout the maze. Seizing the initiative, the Jabberwock took to the air, rising up for all to see and letting loose a great gout of flame down at Queen Alice. While impossibly powerful, the attack was not quite enough to kill the new Queen, and she hung on with only superficial injuries. These were healed quickly and easily by magic.

    White Rabbit Bowl: Dragon Queen
    Sporting Event / Competition

The chance Queen Alice awaited was not to come. On Ooawagaeri’s orders, the liquid cat jumped onto the hapless queen and dissolved, dousing her in water. The fox then attempted to freeze that water, but Queen Alice resisted it with sheer will, melting the ice even as it formed. Alice of Clubs, thus far unseen, leapt from the bushes to strike at the chains holding her Queen in place. They shattered under Clubs’ bastard sword, but immediately reformed themselves as Mikazuki Munechika took the initiative. Striking twice, Munechika shattered Queen Alice’s shield, sent her tumbling to the ground, and then finished her off with a final blow.

Still flying high above in the outer courtyard, Dragon Queen Alice responded to the fox’s flight with a targeted Burbleflare. The attack struck at the center of Ooawagaeri’s group and exploded outward. All were caught in the blast, but other than serious injuries on Mikazuki Munechika’s part and the Sable Fox coming out a little more singed, everyone else was largely unharmed. Less fortunate was The Walrus, who caught the full brunt of the blast. Unable to defend himself and with negligible combat potential, the creature’s flab was charred and burnt, reducing it to a charcoal husk.

    Sporting Event / Competition

Escaping from those who had surrounded her, Dragon Queen Alice gained another ten feet in altitude and unleashed a Burbleflare so quickly that the fox’s allies were unable to even turn around. Aotsuki and Ooawagaeri were largely unharmed as before, but Mikazuki Munechika was brought to unconsciousness and Alice of Hearts almost killed from a direct hit to her back. Only the spray of pillows, lace, and stuffed animals intercepting the blast kept her from being incinerated instantly.

Mere seconds after his discussion with Hanahane, a door had appeared in the maze wall next to Sanosuke. Unobtrusive, simple wood set in stone, it matched the decor of the area. It had certainly not been there mere moments before, however. Walking over to the door and bringing it to Fools’ attention, Sanosuke attempted to open it. Despite his prodigious strength, the wooden portal didn’t so much as budge and groan. Wisely, the Silver General decided that it wasn’t quite time yet, and stood by to let other events unfold.
