Mogrica Torre
Mogrica Torre is the centre of transmutation magic in Troyvalden. It is one of the larger of the five Torres of Mustoir, and one of the most commercial. Mogrica's colours are brown and dark green, with copper metallic trim.
Location and Torre Architecture
Mogrica Torre is a relatively average sized tower, with around 500 feet of burnished copper cladding reaching up into the sky. The tower itself is square and quite brutalist in appearance, with simple square windows and hard angles. This theme continues in the outbuildings, which are simply functional in the extreme. This solid foundation is viewed as necessary grounding for the transformative magic performed within.Commercial Services
Mogrica holds an interesting middle ground between the strong commercialism of Feitica and the more militaristic involvement and explosive experimentation of Detona. They offer some simple domestic convenience services like Mending, Cleaning (via Prestidigitation), and even up to Fabricate which is used to help with major construction projects. The relative affordability of Mending has a strang influence on the wider economy of Mustoir - most skilled artisans are able to spend more time producing new goods for export and less on simple mending tasks, although many are also employed by Mogrica to train their wizards to understand the various skills. The other wing of the Torre work in much more expansive magic, manipulating the wider world around them and harnessing the elements to cast Feather Fall, Fly, Pyrotechnics, Spider Climb, Control Water and Stone Shape. Wizards who specialise in these skills may find themselves in demand by the Acarian Military, to provide battlefield control.Culture
Mogrica is often viewed as one of the most accessible Torres for those not born of noble blood. Their involvement with skilled crafts attracts artisans from across Offenland, Lasse and Acaria, even those with no clear magical ability. Great importance is placed on being able to complete works with your hands directly, before one can fully understand how to perform the tasks magically. It's more common to meet a Mogrica Student or Fellow wearing a heavy leather apron, jeweller's glasses and an array of tools at their belt than it is to see them wearing robes and carrying a wand and spellbook.
Their practice is not without any spiritualism though. They feel that to perform transformational magic one must be strongly grounded in the real world. This is encouraged by the manual work of skills, the clean architecture, but also through meditation and holding the body in specific poses. Some take these ideas further, choosing to go barefoot to connect themselves to the ground, and a subculture subscribe to a theory that you can harness the transformative power of sexual arousal to create stronger arcane skills.
Research
Most of the research in the Torre is on the elemental side, working to manipulate the world around them or their own bodies in more complex ways, for longer or affecting a larger area. Recent developments include localised control of the weather, manipulation of local gravity, and even creating disturbances in the flow of time.Public Agenda
Mogrica are both relatively free from suspicion and relatively uninterested in the developments following Duke Mathion's death. With many of the members of the Torre not being of noble blood, they tended not to get involved with political life anyway, and they have a good enough relationship with the Acarian Military to be largely left alone by the occupying forces.
A portion of the Torre believe that a more radical change to the politics of Mustoir is in order, and would advocate for a governance system more similar to Sturmin, but this is not yet an official view.
