History

Early Exploits

Jaina Proudmoore was the middle child of Lord Admiral Daelin Proudmoore, and his wife Katherine. Jaina was loved by her family and, from an early age, was filled with the joy of learning and the duties of a young lady, despite House Proudmoore's military background. As a child, she had a governess and several tutors and propriety demanded that she be followed by an escort of her lady-in-waiting and a guard or two. She had a habit of hiding whenever she was frightened or upset, but her mother Katherine would always find her. Jaina had always been fond of reading; the library of Proudmoore Keep was her favorite spot growing up as her mother bemusedly noted, "surrounding [herself] with musty old tomes." At a young age, she was enamored with tales of the elven bladesinger. As a child, Jaina witnessed a tidesage bless a ship at least once, something she would not see again until many years later.   When her magical talent was discovered,Katherine had to fight Daelin to allow Jaina to be taught at Windrin, though their daughter didn't know of this. On her way to Windrin, Jaina—who was then 11 years old—briefly stayed as a guest in Holypertuis, where she became close friends with Jaeger von Verurteilung, who thought Jaina looked like someone who was well accustomed to riding and hiking, spent a great deal of time outdoors, and would not mind having a snowball pelted in her face or going for a swim on a hot day. Jaeger volunteered to escort Jaina to Windrin along with her guards and servants.   Jaina spent the following years studying in Windrin. 6 years after her arrival to the city, she badgered the Archmage Antonidas into accepting her as an apprentice, eventually becoming one of the few female wizards in direct service to the Academy of magic. She came to be known as a star pupil who excelled at magical research and investigation, and Antonidas believed she had the potential to become the greatest sorceress in human history. The high elf prince Kael'thas Soliadon who was also studying there was enamored with Jaina, but she did not return his feelings and remained focused on her studies as she wanted to advance on her own merits and not simply because an elven prince enjoyed her company.   When Jaina was 18, she and her father Daelin attended Jaeger induction into the Church of Waukeen in Holypertuis. Shortly after, Jaeger visited Windrin for a few months under the pretense of studying history so that he could get an opportunity to court Jaina. During a ride outside the city, the two kissed for the first time and began a romantic relationship, much to Vaneli Kael'thas' chagrin. They initially kept their affair secret from the public in order to avoid feeding the rumor mill, but over the following year, Jaina began visiting Capital City during holidays. At the Withces festival, after Jaina used a spell to offer firework to the crowd, she and Jaeger retreated to the noble's rooms and had sex for the first time. Afterward, Jaina promised Jaeger that she would never deny him. Jaina was subsequently invited to spend the winter in Capital City and began being treated as a member of the von Verurteilung family, as everyone assumed that she and Jaeger would marry and have children soon. However, during the last dusk festival ball a few weeks after the Witches Festival, Jaeger began questioning whether the two of them were ready to be together and abruptly ended the relationship so that Jaina could focus on her magical studies in Windrin and Jaeger could focus on his commitments to the Church of Waukeen. Jaina was very hurt by the decision but did not fight him on it, eventually realizing and agreeing that it was the right thing to do at the time. Both of them agreed to remain friends. Jaina returned to Windrin, where at one point she helped Antonidas in various quests.

Leader of the Academy of magic

Later, in 1066 AD her master Antonidas sent her on a quest to find the staff of the magi, a legendary staff known by all wizard and spellcasters for its power and utility. Antonidas came with Jaina on her quest, but as they dived into always more dangerous ruins, the Archmage died to one of the many traps. Jaina was shocked by the death of her master and stopped their quest to bring his body back to Windrin. As her pupil, and already known for her great power, Jaina became the new directress of the Academy of magic, a Position she assumed with dignity, as she quickly learned to manage such an important organization.   Suffering from this loss, and with the burden of her new responsibilities, Jaina looked for comfort she had long forgotten, that of a house, and of a loving family. Returning to her home and delegating part of her function as the Academy of magic leader to the director of each school. Back to her family, her mother showing signs of old age welcomed her daughter warmly. Jaina took a year-long break in the comfort of her home, before receiving an interesting letter.
Dear lady Jaina Proudmoor of house Proudmoore
The Empress thank you for your service to the empire as a leader of the magical academy and wishes you by her side for the feast of the dragon on the 14th of Urui, 1067.
Your sincerely
Mary Morison
With this personal invitation from the empress Manael Tana, Jaina finally left her family after the harvesting festival, coming back to Holypertuis. A week and a half early on her appointment, the mage used that occasion to enquire about her childhood friend Jaeger von Verurteilung. A reunion that was awkward at first due to their previous relationship, but as they were able to get past this awkwardness, the day before the dragon feast celebration, the two slept together again.   Finaly the day of the celebration, Jaina was invited into the castle, and enjoyed the celebration along the most prestigious noble of the nation, including but not limited to Jaeger. During this feast, the empress revealed her plan concerning this invitation and offered Jaina a position as the court mage. Jaina quality as a wizard was known among the entire empire, and as the leader of the Academy of magic and a noble of the Proudmoore family, she was able to access this post. First hesitant, she finally agreed with the encouragement of her lover.   As Jaina finally tried to Settle with Jaeger as her lover, the difference between the two had been amplified by the years since they first declared their love. When Jaeger was making a profit as a merchant, specializing in the trade of weapons and other smithing products, Jaina was advocating for the reduction of weapon circulation. When Jaeger was believing the Church of Waukeen has been right when chasing the shifters, Jaina couldn't help but feel some sort of pity for those of them that were innocent bystanders. Due to those various differences, the two weren't getting along aswell as they used too.

Mistress of the Weave

As the court wizard, Jaina's duties were numerous, mostly consisting of assisting and advising the empress, and making use of her incredible skill for the empire. Growing bored for a loveless marriage, Jaina started to take on more and more daring missions, one of which brought the woman to the mystical floating island of Coldarra. On this island, she met the god of magic, Malygos himself. The god was impressed by the human affinity with the weave, and proposed for the wizard to stay.   Jaina, unwilling to refuse such a proposition, gladly agreed, and spent countless days, even weeks with the dragon. Becoming the champion of the god of magic, the two became much closer than that, as the court mage started an affair, cheating on her husband with the god of magic himself. When rumor spread of Jaina disparition, Jaina finally realized she had to left, but the dragon god, in an attempt to see her again, blessed her with immortality, at least against the attack of time. Jaina swore to the god she would, one day come back, may it be in centuries or in millennia, but she'll come back.   Once back to Tana's Empire, she quickly reassured the empress and her husband of her well-being. With Jaeger von Verurteilung worrying for her health and state, he quickly discovered her affair. Still holding true to the words Jaina had once told him, he felt deeply betrayed, and divorced, leaving Jaina. She was okay with this separation, but still felt an inner void after breaking this ancient promise of her. Later, in 1101 when Jaeger died, Jaina was seen at his burial crying and leaving a bouquet of roses on his grave.   When in 1122 AD, Charle III Tana succeded his mother Manael Tana to the title of emperor, he looked for new blood among his advisor. Jaina also wanted more time to focus on her position of leader of the Academy of magic and the two agreed.   Now looking for a pupil gifted enough to follow her path among the various student of the magic school.
