During the Second War, he pledged loyalty to the Alliance of Lordaeron on behalf of Dalaran, in the war against the orcs. Mentor to young Jaina Proudmoore, Antonidas would be killed during the Third War by the death knight Arthas when the undead Scourge invaded the city.

History

Early Life

Antonidas was but a mere boy when he became an apprentice to one of an exceptional wizard from the Academy of magic. He was a tenacious learner, pouring over books in the magical libraries of Windrin. After only a few short years of studying, Antonidas had outclassed his peers and earned their admiration, as well as the respect of his elders. At the age of 12, Antonidas' thesis,
"The Ramifications of refined Reverse Time Travel Phenomena into Quantifiable Magical Practice"
— Antonidas
Earned him the Academy of Supreme Acumen, the youngest ever to receive the award. Shortly thereafter the Director Council offered him official placement in the Academy of magic Advanced Research and Illumination section, also the youngest to receive an official invitation.   As the mage grew older, he continued to learn and hone his abilities. His natural talent for defensive Magic and wisdom beyond his years made Antonidas an ideal candidate for a position as a director of one of the school of magic, which he eventually attained. Antonidas proved not only wise and fair, but infinitely regimented in goal to become more knowledgeable. He quickly became one of the dominant voices of Windrin.

Vampiric Influence

Antonidas was sent with a team of six to monitor the forces sent the cleanse the region of vampires. A few months following this incident, when an intermediate Vampire infiltrated Windrin's castle, Antonidas rushed to intercept him. Antonidas battled against the vampire, saving the nobles of house Windrin.   After those incidents, the archmage studied the vampires, proposing varied hypothesis on the various vampire kind, and published several theses on his research:
"The Causality of Conflict: A Comprehensive Study on Vampire Lassitude."

"The Contrast of Vampire Tradition, Sociology, and Psychological Practices."

"Empirical Study on the Formulation and History of High Profile Vampiric Curses, and their Relation to true vampires."
Researching what little he could find of vampire history, Antonidas learned the distinction between true vampires, and vampirism as a curse, he learned that the high vampires are present since the Dawn of the first races of Toriel, and are incredibly powerful beings. Antonidas theorized that the curse of vampirism was not actually a disease, and provoked this bloodlust within the infected. Though the symptoms were clear, Antonidas was unable to find a cure for the cursed present condition, and many fellow mages argued that finding a cure for the vampires would be an imprudent venture.

New pupil

Though his failing health prohibited him from spending too much time away from his beloved city, his apprentice, Jaina Proudmoore, served as his eyes and ears in the world. Antonidas looked forward to the day when he would hand his power and mantle of leadership over to Jaina, who he felt would make a most impressive archmage.   Despite his old age, the archmage, accompanied by his pupil, started a new quest, after many theses on the vampire, his eyes wear now on the exploration and study of magical artifacts, and much of his research led him to believe, with Jaina's help they could get the legendary object of power, the Staff of the Magi. Unfortunately, Carried away by his research, the archmage died to a trap in one of the ruins he explored with his student in 1066 AD.
