Arthas Medicis

Arthas Medicis was an emperor of the Orrin Empire, the last of his bloodline. Ruling for over five decades, including the period of the Orc War, Arthas sought to empire united as political issues had arisen. His death at the hands of an assassin deprived the Empire of its leadership at a critical moment in history.

History

Arthas Medicis was born in the court of the Orrin empire, one of the strongest Human nations, as a member of the royal Medicis family, which had ruled the empire for generations. Arthas grew up to become a wise and just ruler, greatly loved by his people. His long years of reign saw peace and brought prosperity for Orrin, but all this changed with the outset of Orc War.
At the beginning of the Orc War, refugees from the borders arrived in the new capital and met with Arthas, giving warnings of the orcs and the invasion that was to come. Arthas organized the forces of Orrin in the defense of Capital City against the onslaught of the Horde during the orc War. He even commanded the defenses of the Siege of Capital City, where the empire was almost destroyed by the Horde and Arthas almost killed by an Orc that was killed by Khadgar. But in the end, their sacrifices were not in vain, and the Empire won through, decimating the Horde and rounding up the surviving orcs into internment camps, headed by Aedelas Blackmoore. Arthas thought that if the orcs could be kept pacified long enough, they ought to eventually lose their lust for conquest, and as such he pleaded to keep them interned instead of executing them.

Aftermath of the war

Some years later, the matter of what to do with the previous orcish territory came up. Some wanted to split the lands between the Orrin and the Elves. A claim emperor Arthas refused vividly, frightened to take over those cursed land.

Murder

When the political problems culminated, Arthas realized that the Empire would crumble. Time wore on and Arthas grew more and more infirm, struggling to hold together the collapsing Empire despite all of his pleas. An assassin, sent by the emperor opponent David Lionheart, disguised as a noble was invited to the emperor's castle. As he knelt before the emperor, the assassin rose up, drew his sword, and approached the throne. Taking Arthas by the throat, the assassin drove the dark blade through the leader's heart. Thus did Arthas of the House of Medicis, Emperor of Orrin, die, bringing an end to his reign.
With the emperor dead, The empire started to crumble, and the opposing party used this opportunity to lead troops to the east, taking over the south of the Green earth and forming the Kingdom of Alterin. Later Khagar took the role of empire, and stabilized the empire, preventing it from collapsing as he decalred war to the newly formed empire, starting the Conqueror's War.
