History

After the Orc War, David Lionheart complained about the lack of pride of the empire as he wanted the empire to conquer the Orc's former land. David had his eye on this land to be taken, even though he had no right to it. David almost fought with Khadgar over the issue, but the confrontation never came as both of them had reluctantly agreed not to bring back any weapons or arcane focus. Over Time, he grew to support the idea he should rule and lead the empire to a new age of glory.   Supporting this idea, David orchestrated the assassination of the emperor Arthas Medicis. With the confusion following the emperor's death, he used this opportunity to lead an important part of empire's the army east. With no ruler to command them, those approving of David's view followed, and soon the empire was divised more than ever before. Khagar, mourning the death of Arthas, and looking for vengeance heard echo of David plans to overtake the entire empire. Conscient of his own power and authority, Khagar arose to take on the vacant role, and became the new emperor of Orrin. He ordered the forces in Green earth to return to the empire, but the opposition was too great, and they declared themself the independant Kingdom of Alterin. The empire spy breaking the news of the truth behind Arthas' assassination empowered the new empror to declare war against the newly formed kingdom of Alterin. The resulting war weakened both the kingdom and empire and split the populace into two groups, "royalist" and "Imperialist", labels that continued to spark fights years after the event ended.  
The Declaration of Independence of the Kingdom of Alterin:   When, in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's gods entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.   We, the people of the Kingdom of Alterin, under the leadership of King David Lionheart, declare our independence from the Orrin Empire, and reject all claims of authority and jurisdiction over our lands and people. We have long suffered under the oppression and tyranny of the Orrin Empire. We have exhausted all peaceful means of redress and have decided to take our fate into our own hands.   We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.   Therefore, the leader of the Kingdom of Alterin, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these lands, solemnly publish and declare, That these United lands are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the Orrin Empire, and that all political connection between them and the Orrin Empire, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent lands, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent lands may of right do.
