Winela Hills

Just a few miles to the south of the Shroud, the Winela Hills contain a collection of villages and hamlets that serve as a stopping-off point before venturing into the Shroud. Populated mostly by hardy dwarves and brutish orcs, only those on the toughest fringes of society survive in this environment. The Winela Hills themselves are relatively bare and offer no protection from the mists to the north or the raiding parties from the south that attempt to relieve them of their hard-won belongings. Crossing through the Winela Hills is not the only way to access the Shroud, but it is considered a rite of passage by any who live in the western half of Volorun. As such, those who succeed are typically offered some small boon to aid them in whatever their mission may be beyond the mists.
