Session 18: Saxon Attack Report

General Summary

The plucky heroes Grimmaz & Bjorn set out with Kulug Jocki towards the Saxon encampment. There they slip round to the north, and persuaded the guards to let them in. There was nine Saxon Fyrd altogether packing up the contents of tents & a shack at the end of the encampment. In the shack was a nobleman of Saxon origin and another Fyrd man. The heroes kept to the story of being mercenaries from the Black Forest there to help and to travel north with these men to help. While waiting, they found that the nobleman and the one fyrd stayed in the shack with a small chest / box. At this point, after shifting some boxes & sacks out of the shack, Bjorn slipped out to the forest and summoned a familiar in the form of a weasel.
At the same time, Grimmaz asked where the troops were going. He was told that they were going to a northern point just east of Aachen. From there they didn't know exactly what was to happen. When Bjorn came back he pretended to be asleep, while he got his familiar to slip into the shack. He tried to get it to open up the small chest / box, but failed twice and knocked it over. From there, the familiar had to hide and they thought up a new plan. What they done was have the familiar slip in and run up the leg of the nobleman, while he held the box now. It caused him to jump up in shock, and drop the box. The noise of him and the Fyrd caused others to hear them.
Bjorn & Grimmaz to burst in complaining that the wildlife around here was a menace. When distracted Grimmaz grabbed the box, and Bjorn helped keep the nobleman distracted while hiding his weasel familiar. They got the box open and retrieved a letter sent to the Saxons. In it, it was a list of details from a member of the cult of the dead (the Necrocult), where it is stated that they are still to be supplied with enemy bodies, as well as gold, iron & steel ingots. These were to be delivered to some unknown spot for retrieval with the time of 3am mentioned, and then to leave immediately. This was to occur every month on the 28th. From there they would assemble 500 'special' troops led by two commanders. The latter was the only ones who could lead the troops specifically. Also, they would be sent on time and hide until the 13th November when an attack on Aachen is to be carried out. It was signed by a being called Lord Diablos.
Grimmaz just remembered that Father Tossil had mentioned something in passing about the Necrocult, but didn't recall anything of else being mentioned. They are travelling now north with the Saxons, and likely will make for either Parisius or Aachen itself. Either they go to Parisius to get some more support, or Aachen to warn them of the impending attack. Lastly, Grimmaz wants the Dwarven & Elvish runes checked out on his magic battleaxe, and the Dwarves that inhabit the region of Aachen is meant to know the exact meaning of the runes.
