Alexander Franco (a.k.a. Alex)
Alex grew up at Hestia Orphanage in Aeolus City. He and his sister, Jane, came out of a Womb With a View each. Their parents had them made but failed to take delivery of the babies, so the company for reproductive services sent the babies to the orphanage instead.
Alex was born the same year as Calvin Keller and Sam Brixton and so grew up with them, saw them as friends and brothers by way of being from the same orphanage. He stayed in touch with Calvin after he was adopted by Herbert Kibblewhite, and was also friends with Jamie Gilbert who spent a lot of time at the orphanage, without being an orphan, but because his father Anton used to work there and accompanied Anton there to be close to Calvin.
Alex mistook the freighter the Tranquility for the Brothel Barge, which he wanted to sign onto, but ended up as a crewman of the Tranquility instead, and became the lover of the Captain of the Tranquility, who used to say that Alex became a crewman by accidentally shanghaiing himself. This claim has never been explained by the Captain, so nobody knows how that would even work.
Alex was contacted by Hieronymous Barker in 2959 about breaking Ewan Duarte out of prison. For some reason, Alex chose to draw inspiration for his plan from the Earth novel The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. Alex went into the prison Wutiff on Ixion with the intention of him and Ewan waiting for The Tranquility to arrive in the star system, whereupon they would die in an apparent mining accident and have their memories downloaded into clone bodies. It appears that only Alex successfully made it out of prison in this manner.
