Triel

Triel is a small, agrarian community in the Western Heartlands of Northwest Faerun northeast of Elturel. Nominally independent, Triel, like many settlements around Elturel, has historically fallen under "Elturel's Guard" and was part of the nation of Elturgard until its dissolution in 1498.

History

At some point before the mid-15th century, a hag named Zilly Redwood moved into the forest of Triel, generally leaving the settlement alone, but interacting with its residents when a lone individual or child wandered into the woods. Occasionally the hag was sought out by Trielians looking for solutions to desperate problems.   Though Triel joined the newly formed nation of Elturgard in the 1450's, it wasn't until 1466 that the village recieved its own garrison of Hellriders, which initially was led by Tori Miursa and her son Alcor.   On the 2nd of Eleasis, 1497, the city of Elturel disappeared, beginning the Damnation of Elturel. In the chaos that followed for the next several months, Triel and its surrounding settlements were harrassed by raiding bands from Najara, the northern kingdom of monsters, taking advantage of Elturel's vanishing. Additionally, in Marpenoth of 1497, Zilly Redwood was killed by the Lost Star Detectives.   Though Elturel returned to the Material Plane in 1498, it was not enough to prevent the dissolution of Elturgard as a state. However, Triel, as as a small village, kept close ties with Elturel and its Hellriders to ensure its own protection against Najaran raiders.   In 1507, the Heroes of Saltmarsh gathered together in Triel at the behest of Necian Arrzen, who had been living in Triel for a few months, to plan their heist to free a group of slaves from the City of Brass.

Points of interest

As a small village, most visitors to Triel end up staying at Inn and Out, a tavern and inn run by Tori Miursa, a former Hellrider that chose to settle in Triel. Inn and Out is a favorite stop for travelers of the Trade Way for its excellent burgers and fried potato wedges.
