Windwarrior Rank/Title in The Skyrunner Tribe | World Anvil

Windwarrior

Those among the tribe that wishes to take the next step into something greater they look to the Windwarriors. Windwarriors among the tribe exemplify the nature of the Skyrunner Tribe and their history. By bonding with a wild wyvern of the Pridewing or Highperch prides an individual honors a pact that is generations old. Forged by the first chieftain to protect the tribe from the new threat of the centaur the honorable and noble wyverns allied themselves with the Skyrunner under three conditions. First, that the bond between tribe and pride be honored by allowing the wyvern to pick their rider as an equal and never a slave. Second, that the union of the two be used to aid in the safeguarding of the land and the skies of Kalimdor from threats similar to the agreement that Thrall and Cairne themselves made with the Highperch generations later. Third, should the prides ever need the aid of those that walk on the land the Skyrunner would come to their call no matter the cost. Windwarriors are skilled aerial combatants though this is not a required trait to earn this rank among the tribe. Traditionally the title was reserved for combatants only but over time it simply became a way to indicate those that have gone before the wyvern lords and earned their respect and bonded with a wyvern of their own.

Duties

Windwarriors are elite braves and honored members of the Tribe. As such these individuals are often more skilled at whatever task they choose to follow be it combat, healing, or crafting related. They are also considered higher authorities when it comes to their voice in tribe decisions and opinions on where the tribe is lead.

Responsibilities

As more skilled craftsmen, healers, and fighters Windwarriors often work longer days than the average Tribesman and teach others their skills and abilities through mentorship. These individuals also take on more local patrols for the tribes as their connection to their wyverns makes them great assets for hunting, scouting, and protection.

Benefits

Windwarriors receive the full protection and benefits of the Tribe as a whole just like Tribesman. From the rite of trial and voice in tribe meetings to the equal distributions of food and bounty from supply gatherings and hunts to the rite of spiritual guidance and social rites of marriage and education. Windwarriors also gain a higher amount of respect as they have gone through the Judgment of the Wyverns rite to bond with a wild wyvern and honor an age-old pact. This Ritual is considered a true test of a Skyrunner's moral and spiritual fiber.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Though the title of Windwarrior is one that has no time limit on it an individual can lose that rank. Some crimes or actions may result in an individual being demoted down to Tribesman though they do not lose the bond with their wyvern. Come may become exiled or even executed if the crime is bad enough. Death does not remove the title from someone but an individual can cast aside the title by becoming a self-imposed exile or even disappearing for an extended time without word or cause.
