Judgement of the Wyverns Example Feather by Mahala and Jaeva

The Judgement of the Wyverns rite is a very old tradition among the Skyrunner and represents their eternal bond with Wyvern kind as well as the significance of the tribe's lifestyle as a whole.

History

This particular Rite is a very old tradition among the Skyrunner Tribe. Shortly after the founding of the tribe the Centaur made their appearance in Desolace and with them the reality that the ground was no longer safe. Taking to the skies meant a pact had to be formed between the Skyrunners and the wyverns of the land. The great Pridewing to the north and the noble Highperch to the south both were visited by The first Skyrunner where she pleaded with them to allow their strongest and largest champions carry the Skyrunners into battle against the enemies of the land. The pact was formed and to this day remains strong as the Skyrunners honor their bargain with the mighty Wyverns. This Rite is part of that ancient agreement in allowing the Wyvern to choose the rider with the full ability to reject those they find unworthy.

Execution

A Tribesman who wishes to take on the role of a Windwarrior must first create a Necklace of Binding. With this tool, they then must travel on foot from Skyrunner Village to one of the two known Wild Wyvern nests that are friendly to the Tribe.

  • The Pridewing Pride- Located on the northern slops of Stonetalon
  • The Highperch Pride- Located on the cliffs of the Thousand Needles

There they will stand before the gathered wyverns and select one they wish to bond with. If the wyvern is accepting they will allow the Necklace of Binding to be placed over their heads which will allow for the pair to communicate more effectively. Once this is done the two must seal their new bond through their First Flight there why join the Tribe in the skies.

OOC

This is a three-part process OOCly.

  1. The Player must oocly let the officer team know of their intentions to move up to this Rank. Once they do they will select a member of the tribe to act as the Witness for their journey as well as which pride of wyverns they intend to visit. Once this is done the Player is encouraged to write a short story of their walk to reflect the nature of the ceremonial walk though this is not necessary.
  2. Participate in the private event set up between the Player and the DMing officer. This event will vary from person to person and the pride they choose to visit making the experience unique to each individual. It is during this event that the D20 Wyvern Sheet will be filled out.
  3. Participate in a short RP event after the event is over where the whole tribe can get behind your achievement and react appropriately!
