The Offering of the Blooded Feather is a new ceremony created to allow members not born of the Tribe to receive full rites as a tribe member. This special Rite is a magical binding of the outsider to the bloodline of the Skyrunner Tribe making them a full member of the tribe in all aspects

History

This tradition is new among the Skyrunner Tribe. Created by Kanatu Skyrunner as a way to open the ranks of the Tribe to any that wished to join. The first to go through this Rite was Walmi. Her long-standing relationship with the Tribe and with Kanatu made her a good first recipient and allowed the Tribe as a whole to warm to the idea of opening the tribe's ranks.

Execution

The Unblooded must venture out into the world either alone or with members of the tribe to participate in a Hunt. This hunt is meant not only to provide for the tribe as far as meat and other supplies go but also for the Unblooded to gather a ceremonial feather from the body. This feather is then presented at the ritual as an offering to the Chieftain.

Once the feather is presented the Chieftain will call upon the tribe and the council to witness the ritual. A fairly simple process in which the Chieftain will cut himself with the special blade and wet the feather with his blood. He will then offer the blade and feather back to the participant so that they can do the same. With the mingled blood of both Chieftain and the participant, the Chieftain says a few words about the new member and their rites as a Tribesman.

This is usually followed by a feast or celebratory night to commemorate the achievement of the participant. The feather is allowed to dry with the blood and should be worn by the participant as a symbol of their new status.

OOC

This is a two-part process OOCly.

1. The Player must request an event be created by an officer to facilitate the Hunt part of the event to gain the feather for their character. They should come with an idea of what or where they wish to hunt for their feather. Once the event is created they must participate in the event.
2. If the hunt is a sucess another event is created a few days later for the ceremony to take place and the player must also be present for that.

Participants

• The Chieftain

The Chieftain is the only one that can bring in members from the outside. It is his blood that must be used in the ritual else it can be seen as improper and not binding.

• The Unblooded

The individual that has made it clear they wish to join the Tribe as a full member and has taken the necessary steps to initiate this Ritual.

• The Council

It is necessary for the Council to be present for such an event as witnesses.

• The Tribe

This is a celebration as much as it is a solemn event in the life of both the Tribe as well as the individual. As such it is fitting that it be held before the whole tribe in order to commemorate the event though it is not necessary if situation does not allow.
