Farridge Lightning

The lightning phenomenon that covers an area of north-western Antir. A number of theories and research has been conducted in the area to find its cause, though none are concrete and fully proven. Most agree the Westerly Prevailing Splinter plays a part; the cold air currents brought on the trade winds merge with the warm air of the region and thus form the storms. Some speculate the ground may also increase the lightnings potency; from either the underground Brio Crystals being some form of conduit, or the gases beneath the surface having a high symmetry.   On average, half of the year is filled with these thunderstorms. They can be active for up to 10 hours a day, with lightning strikes between 10 to 40 times a minute. Many merchants and travellers are killed when the lightning strikes their cargo of Pulvis Pods or any Brio Crystals they have on them, causing them to ignite. It isn't unusual to hear large explosions in the night, as unfortunate people in the distance are caught in a strike, completely eviscerated.

Manifestation

The thunderstorms that appear can have near endless lightning as it dances across the dark clouds in flashes of brilliant purple or blue. Some of the lightning does also strike the ground, and its frequency makes the area particularly dangerous, especially for the Pulvis Pods cargo that sometimes passes through. There is an almost constant, tangible, feeling of static in the area, which is the first sign to a traveller that they are heading into the great thunderstorms of the north.

Localization

From Lake Ostravia, it runs southward along the northern Avitus Range, and can often spread as far east as the Sea of Casemar. It has rarely been seen further south than Casde, as it relies mostly on the winds of the Westerly Prevailing Splinter.
