Spacelane Restoration Initiative
The Spacelane Restoration Initiative (SRI) is an interstellar infrastructure development strategy of the Federal Republic of Zeta Tucanae, aimed at improving space infrastructure throughout the Outer Systems. Its primary focus is improving the reliability of wormhole gateways in the region, with a stated goal being 100% reliability of wormhole gateways in all members states by 2635, and another being the re-connection of parts of the Lost Systems to the gateway network by 2650. Members of the SRI include the FRZT, some members of the Confederated Republics of Luax, the New Hainan Socialist State, the Rukwan Federal Kingdom, the Confederation of Tinia, the Grand Principality of Koyuk, and the Galactic Technologies Consortium's Ashford branch. Additionally, the FRZT has been attempting to persuade the Judicate of Nuragia, the Democratic Republic of Morobe and the Avastus Directorate to join, but has thus far been unsuccessful.
Since the SRI's beginning in 2592, it has seen the regional economy improved significantly, as wormhole travel has become somewhat more reliable, and new spaceports, space elevators, and other infrastructure have been constructed in member states. However, critics of the Initiative claim it is little more than Zetan economic imperialism, aimed at trapping the smaller member states in debt, which the FRZT can leverage to coerce them. These claims, in addition to other factors, have resulted in some star states opting instead to join Orizont's rival APES Coalition.
