The Blood Pit Tavern
Underneath the city of Miskatonic in the long tunnels, catacombs and sewers you can find a tavern that most good people find best to avoid but still brings in a lot of money for the Falcone crime family.
Purpose / Function
The Blood Pit has two purposes, to bring in money for the Falcone family and to be used as a base of operations by them. The Falcone crime family uses the Blood pit to hold large fighting and gambling events. And use it as a way to make customers pay the loans and other debts, they owe to the Falcone family.
Design
The Blood pit tavern is a large underground structure, in the center of the establishment is a large oval shape pit with a metal cage covering it. This pit is used for holding fights, on two of the sides of the pit there are heavy wooden doors that open to let in combatants either human animal or monster. On one side of the tavern there is the bar where someone can buy a drink or place a bet on a fight in the pit. Around the Tavern there are various tables where you can gamble on cards There are even a few slot machines set up around the place. On another side of the Tavern there is a performance stage where the musical shows or dances are put on. connected to the Blood pit tavern is the hallway with many rooms that hold the offices of many Falcone's money men and money lenders. Here is where the Falcone family's money men count their profits or make deals for paying out loans or a way for their customers to pay their debts. And finally, also connected to the Tavern is a black market where almost anything can be bought and sold for the right price.
Entries
The main entrance to enter the Blood pit tavern is that behind a warehouse in the Miskatonic industrial areas there is a small concrete building with two metal doors, if you knock and know the pass word you will be let in. After entering paying a small fee one of the door men will open another set of doors that lead to stairs going down into the Miskatonic's tunnel network the tunnel you have to travel with looks like a market but if you follow the arrows and signs you fill come to the doors to the Blood pit tavern.
The warehouse is a front for the Falcone family and the market in the tunnels are a black market that other criminals pay the Falcone family to let them sell their goods and services in the Falcone family's territory.
Defenses
The tavern's entrance is hidden to get in you have to know where the entrance is and the password, but that is easy many people know where it is and the password. The reason why the tavern has not been raided by the Miskatonic authorities are the many bribes that the Falcone family pays out. Even if the bribes won't stop you there are many Falcone thugs that guard the place.
Tourism
Even though the Blood pit has a well-earned reputation for being a seedy and unsafe place to be it still gets plenty of business and customers. Many people still go down to the blood pit Tavern for the many entertainments and services the Falcone family provides there. This tavern attracts many criminals and lowlifes yes but also many average people and work a day a guys who just want to watch a fight in the pit and place bets on them or gamble at a table, many of the taverns' regulars are the local factory workers that come down to have fun after a long day of work. The fights in the Blood pits arena are far more extreme than you will usually find in other fighting clubs elsewhere. Not just person on person unarmed fist fighting, the Blood pit holds animal baiting where animals fight to the death or martial duels a no-holds-battle using any weapon the contestants want to use and person on animal matches. The tavern serves food usually a meat pie that the Tavern does admit that they use some of the animals that are killed in the arena but there are also rumors that they use more than just the animals. The blood Pit tavern sometimes holds large tournaments with many bloody battles happening.The Blood Pit tavern also has a stage where the taverns entertainers perform music, sing or dances for the entertainment of the customers.
As well as for the entertainment many go to the Blood pit tavern to ask the Falcone money men for a loan. Many very foolish or desperate fall into debt with the Falcone family either taking a loan from one of the Falcone loan sharks or by falling into gambling debt with them. But the Falcone family will never hesitate to tell you how generous they are and how they can almost always find a way for someone without the right amount of money to pay off the debts owed to them. If someone owes money to the Falcone family and cannot pay the Falcones will kindly offer some other options. They can either have a few Falcone thugs beat them to a pulp or give the Falcone family items of value that are worth the price of the debts or work for the Falcone family until their debts are paid off in full. There are many ways to pay the debts owed by working for Falcone family like working in one of the Falcone businesses (the Falcone family owns more than one business) like working as one of their maidservants or if you are big enough you can work as a tavern bouncer. Some have paid off their debts by fighting in the pit or by working as a tavern entertainer, for example Bella Schneider who is a regular on the tavern's stage her family took out a few large loans with Falcone loan sharks that they could not pay back. Being heavily in debt with the Falcone family Bella Schneider spends most nights performing on the taverns stage trying to pay her family's massive debt.
