Kanluranan (kɐn.luˈɾa.nɐn)

"Either we join the Empire and gain their support against Rangdayan, or we are fighting them both. We have no other choices."
Wira Suryanata, shortly before Persatuan Phaṇin became a protectorate of the Tagápulo Empire

Kanluranan is a large group of islands located west of Pulo in the Southwestern Region. In Pananalita the name Kanluranan translates roughly to "The Westlands". The islands are ruled by a confederation of kingdoms called the Persatuan Phaṇin, which banded together long ago to battle the dark goddess Rangdayan and her monsters, a war which has been raging since before Muria fell. Rangdayan is supported by her most common creation, the winged Utkrośa who live within the mountains of Kanluranan. These and other monsters frequently attack from the shadows and the skies, and have managed to hold the combined nations of the Persatuan Phaṇin at bay for centuries. Recently, the confederation voted to join the Tagápulo Empire as a protectorate (rather than be invaded), and they hope to gain imperial support in their ages-long war.

Points of Interest

Kanluranan is one of the most mountainous archipelagos in the Great Ring, with several of the highest peaks found among the islands. These are all under the control of Rangdayan and her Utkrośa, and only the brave and the mad attempt to climb them. The largest settlement in Kanluranan is Kota Phaṇin, on the island of Semvhu. This ancient city is where the leaders of the different Karajans of Kanluranan meet and plan their campaigns against Rangdayan - it is also where the organization known as Tirta Baya was founded and is headquartered. Tirta Baya is better known as "The Godslayers", although so far they have only proposed the execution of evil gods, not carried any out.

Geography

Kanluranan is a large archipelago, with several subgroups of islands within it. It is some of the most mountainous terrain in the Great Ring, and traversing the islands on foot is extremely difficult. There are dozens of communities hidden within the high valleys, and very few of them are welcoming to outsiders.

Sounds like a frightening place to live.   I like that the Tirta Baya are calling themselves the Godslayers preemptively. Hopefully that name doesn't become ironic.

They're pretty set on killing a god - they have a plan and everything. It's just not easy.
