Ratubala

Ratubala, the capital city of the Kingdom of Lahat, stands as a monument to power and authority. Located in the interior of the island of Lahat, Ratubala serves as the heart of the Mekongga's reign and embodies their rule over the island. For over a hundred years, the Mekongga have ruled Lahat, establishing a powerful kingdom that has become renowned for its well-trained army and formidable network of fortresses and strongholds. They have wielded their authority with an iron grip, ensuring strict control over the native Tau Dilaut people, who have long resided on these lands. Through military might and a keen sense of discipline, the Mekongga have maintained order and upheld their dominance.   Ratubala was meticulously planned and constructed by the Mekongga conquerors as a stronghold and center of governance in the heart of Lahat. Designed to showcase their power and control, the city's architecture reflects their imposing presence, with grand fortifications and imposing structures that command attention. The construction of Ratubala marked a significant turning point in the history of Lahat, symbolizing the shift in power and the establishment of Mekonggan rule.   Ratubala is an architectural marvel, meticulously designed to withstand attacks and ensure the security of the ruling Mekonggan regime. The city's imposing walls, watchtowers, and fortified gates stand as a formidable barrier against external threats, underscoring the Mekonggans' commitment to preserving their dominance. Within Ratubala's confines, the streets are meticulously planned, allowing for efficient movement and strategic defense. The layout of the city emphasizes control and order, reflecting the Mekonggans' desire to maintain a firm grip on every aspect of life within its walls.   Residence within Ratubala is not a matter of simple choice or birthright. The Mekonggans tightly regulate population growth and strictly control who is granted the privilege of living within the city's protective embrace. Special licenses are required for individuals and families to reside within Ratubala, serving as a means for the ruling authorities to closely monitor and scrutinize its inhabitants. The stringent selection process ensures that only those who align with the Mekonggans' interests and contribute to their vision of stability and control are granted permission to call Ratubala home.   To accommodate the various requirements of Ratubala's residents, several satellite communities have emerged on the outskirts of the fortress city. These communities serve as vital extensions of Ratubala, providing essential services and resources that the tightly regulated city cannot fulfill. Each satellite community has its own unique purpose, such as providing food supplies, manufacturing goods, or housing workers who support the functioning of Ratubala.   These satellite communities are intricately connected to Ratubala, relying on a delicate balance of cooperation and dependence. While they may enjoy some relative freedom and flexibility compared to life within the fortress city, they too are subject to the Mekonggans' control and must adhere to their regulations. Any perceived threat to the stability or authority of Ratubala is swiftly dealt with, ensuring that the control exerted by the Mekonggans extends beyond the city's walls.
