Skyfall

Skyfall can only be described as a flying bastion, displaying ancient principles of history and order. It is located east of the monolithic Obelisk and the resplendent End Islands, and north of the untamed Wilds. Found high above in the Falls of Lenticularis, it can be seen from horizons far, far away.   The civilians that call Skyfall their capital mostly live below in Epitaph. Some however have taken residence in the surrounding (albeit small amount) of land surrounding the city's functional buildings. Skyfall acts as the capital from which the Injustira syndicate acts. It was once the metropolis of Epitaph on the land below until it was raised to the skies with the power of the Omnijewel.

Government

Skyfall is governed by the Injustira Syndicate, to which it is the capitol for the white guild.

History

Skyfall began as the most densely populated centre of Epitaph, and was populated by mostly divine and other devoted followers of the light of Injustira. It was dubbed Skyfall because of how the sun's light would shine down over the centre so brightly. In 932 Skyfall was magically lifted from the ground where it ascended to the Falls of Lenticularis high above and became the city of the nobles and the courts of justice.   For several hundred years Skyfall grows larger and more powerful whilst Epitaph below is slowly forgotten. Land is expanded to accommodate for a larger population and eventually the city is self sustaining. It isn't until 1426 that Skyfall is brought to the forefront of attention when the Omnijewel (the source of Skyfalls power) is destroyed. Miraculously the city does not fall, but the jewel is shattered into an unknown number of pieces which vanish into the horizon. The events leading up to this, and after, shook the courts of justice so deeply that it was uncertain whether the city would survive its own conflicts.   During the Jewel War, Skyfall was motivated to prove itself as well as reclaim what it's people thought was rightfully thier's - the jewels. In the penultimate events before the war, Skyfall hosted the alliance between the rebels of Asmodius, and the followers of Merlin in a coup d'état against the Mad King.   Ever since the end of the Jewel War, and the beginning of the Guildeam, Skyfall has served as the pseudo meeting place of the High Court.

Districts

Old Archem

  • Old Archem (Old district & estates)

  • Bygone Meadows

  • Temple of the Order(Temple ruins)
On the western outskirts of Skyfall is Old Archem, a wide spectacle of a forlorn endeavour to recreate the sublimity of the Heavens. It's mostly comprised of the Bygone Meadows, an open area with sparse Great Root trees. These trees are native to Terimus, and have long been admired for its unblemished, smooth bark and sprawling roots that stretch for yards beneath the ground. At dusk and dawn these trees are aglow with the sun's light, reflecting off their golden leaves.   Deeper within is the Temple of the Order, a forgotten sanctuary once filled with devout warriors chosen by Injustira himself. After 2000 years however, it has become nothing but a ruin. Surrounding it are ancient Divine Willow trees - draping their serene white/blue branches above, releasing a faint glow from its heart. It hums as though resonating with the air around it and is said these trees were brought from the Heavens, it's body adapting into wood to suit life on the mortal world. These trees can be found planted around the city of skyfall.   On the outskirts of the district are the estates were many people live. This is considered the lower class estate, and is also home to many people that believe in the 'old faith'.

Capitol District

  • Walk of the Ancients (Main district road)
  • Opaline Gates (Entrance)
  • The Vestibule (Government building and outer courtyards)
  • Pillar of Resonance
The Capitol District is the heart of Skyfall, and is where the majority of life in Skyfall takes place. The Skybridge leads immediately to the Walk of the Ancients, a main stretch of road with a mixture of markets, homes and professional areas. Deeper within is a colossal district of courtyards and bridges called the Vestibule. It surrounds a great summit of white stone that towers over all else in the city known as the Pillar. The only way in is through the heavily guarded, albeit public, Opaline Gates. The gates themselves are gigantic and pristine, like a prism of stone and glass and crystal all brought together by a master architect to evoke awe and brilliance, using any light that touches it's surface to reflect out in a beautiful glow. Divine Willows stand as centre pieces between great works of marble art. In the centre of it all, is the apex itself, the Pillar, which towers overall else in Skyfall. Within it's walls the Injustira Syndicate's functional halls can be found, guarded and forbidden by anyone not within the guild. It is said that the summit resonates a low thrum, an energy of calm, which the divine refer to as the very energy of the Heavens itself.

New Archem

  • Whitewall
  • Main Square
After Skyfall was risen to the skies, New Archem connected Old Archem to the Capitol District. Because of this it quickly grew into a large populace and took up much of the remaining land.

The Athenaeum

  • Great Library
  • Infirmary
Adjascent to the Capital District, and directly connected to the Walk of the Ancients and the Vestibule, is the Athenaeum. This is where the Injustira Syndicate instructs disciples on the 6 Divine Commandments. Here the great library can be found in it's centre, with bridges and corridors connecting to smaller areas devoted to each of the courts of Skyfall. For example, the infirmary of Scentiel is based here, run by disciples of the Court of Sincerity. The library itself is run by the Court of Reason.

Angelbridge

  • Zeppelin Dock
The Angelbridge is a monolithic bridge scaling the Falls of Lenticularis which spill the endless cascade of water off of Skyfall down to the sky below - mostly dissipating into clouds. The Bridge cuts into the city and overlooks some of its outer areas before ending. On the farthest end of the Angelbridge lies the docks where zeppelins arrive to the white city all day and night. It is heavily guarded at all times.
