Asmodius Corps
The Asmodius Corps acts as the honorary, but sometimes reckless, army for all of Occulas. They protect and serve from their capital city, Asmodius City, in Basilieand (Kingsland), west of Albanoch and east of Viridium. When the army of Asmodius fights, expect to see jets of fire, lightning arching across the sky and iron drums of war. For the 'red guild,' as referred to by many Occulians, freedom, courage and vigour is most important. Its quick actions, inflaming might and earth changing power makes it a formidable foe. The army is large enough to rattle foundations and destroy cities. At their best, expect dynamic strategies, passionate speeches and acts of selflessness. However, the worst of the Asmodius Corps has been labelled short-sighted, temperamental and destructive. The Corps excels in warfare, engineering, and tactics. They provide this knowledge through Asmodius College, in the hopes of perfecting their army with the best veterans they have to teach.
Structure
The Asmodius Corps is perhaps second to being the most influential in the Guildeam, overshadowed only by the Injustira Syndicate who first created the Guildeam Alliance. "Whomsoever sits on the throne of Asmodius with the iron crown, rules over Occulas with an iron fist." However, there has been no heir since the end of the Jewel War. Thus, it is the Regent Lord Commander that governs over the Asmodius Corps and its capital.
The Iron Army
Beneath the Regent Lord Commander is the War General: commander of the Iron Army and adviser to the Lord Commander, and the Lord of Nobles: who advises on the running of the city with the Noble Council. Beneath the War General are the Golden Five, known for their golden plated weapons forged within the Gaia Forge. Each take on important roles to fulfill the duty of supporting the War General in operating the military power of the Asmodius Corps. Each of these seats are as follows:- Head of Asmodius College
- Lord of the Land
- Lord of the Sea
- Lord of the Sky
- Master of Spies
The Iron City
The Noble Council is the body which currently aids the Regent Lord Commander in running the kingdom's daily affairs. This court is mostly made up of the most honoured families in Asmodius, and some of them are heads of commerce, construction, international affairs, treasury, and other important functions of the city and its people. During political debate, it is not uncommon for the New Magistrate to oversee the court, particularly when the army is involved.History
The Fist of Asmodius 84 BC - 1649 AD
In the first years of Occulas, when Magic Earth was still young, the Corps was founded under its original name, the Fist of Asmodius. The Fist was dedicated to King Asmodius 1st, in the year 84 BC as a royal army to protect and serve as they domesticated Magic Earth. In the year 64 BC it was that their capital, Asmodius City was constructed in Magic Earth. The king foresaw the downfall of Magic Folk in Non-Magic Earth, and so put forward that they all prepare for the future, for the worst of times. When the Great Voyage came in the year 1 AD, the son of the king, now King Asmodius Leonhart II ordered for all Magic Folk to either migrate to Magic Earth, or live a life of secrecy in Non-Magic Earth. During the era before the Great Voyage, Magic Earth was not the major homeland of Magic Folk, they lived together with the Non-magic Folk of Earth. It was the King's son, Asmodius II that was the first to rule Occulas, the known lands of Magic Earth. It was not until 358 AD that Asmodius College was constructed to train any noble wannabe soldiers. At this time in Magic Earth's life, the wilds, the unseen lands were covered in native monsters and creatures, some even the Broken. The beings that first lived in Magic Earth, they were the remnants of what the Eternal had left after creating Magic Earth without properly understanding the Occulanium. In 1564 AD the royal family had no remaining heirs to the thrown. So, in order to keep peace and order it was agreed amongst the elites of Asmodius that the Fist of Asmodius would join the Guildisation movement. From this day onward the Fist was officially known as the Asmodius Corps, alongside the Injustira Syndicate in the Guildeam. The Dark Days and the Jewel War 1551 - 1568
During the Dark Days (the events leading up to the Jewel War), the Fist was extremely isolationist. Contact with the other large powers of Occulas was strangely minimal. At the time, the cities of Alder and Skyfall were becoming distrustful of Asmodius. They suspected that the King of the time (later to be known as the Mad King) was protecting the Conclave of Declasia (Delorius'tatem), who were perceived as untrustworthy. In 1555 the Crimson Jewel is given to the King (unbeknownst to the rest of Occulas) by the Dark Sorcerer, and is turned into a puppet. One year later, the powers of Skyfall and Alder ally themselves with the majority of the defecting Fist to defeat the King and control the Crimson Jewel. Thus began the Jewel War. When the King is defeated in 1558, the southern alliance realises that he was a vessel of power, thus turning their attention northwards to end the Dark Days at its source - Sheol.Guildisation 1650
With no more heirs to the throne the city of Asmodius and the Jewel War officially over, the city had been under rule by various generals for some time. However, in 1600 the Injustira Syndicate arrived with an offer - Guildisation. The Guildeam Alliance would become a unified body for much of the land in Occulas. Whilst each capital and respective guild would still control their own borders and it's people, the leaders of each would become a part of the High Court. This was a strategy put in place in the hopes of avoiding another war between realms ever happening again, hoping to keep alliances tight and true. The Guildeam and the High Court would replace the need for a Royal Family, which since the dawn of Magic Folk, had been the Line of Asmodius. This was also seen as a precautionary measure put against the Asmodius Corps in an attempt to control it whilst helping it to recover from the Mad King's rule. The Fist took this offer wisely, and used it to solidify their new presence in the city as the Asmodius Corps with a brand new government to run the city, with the once Royal Table becoming the Noble Council.Present
In the present, the Asmodius Corps is ruled by Arwren Gueis, a Magic-Earth Human (Half High Elf) who has brought up age-old discussions about the royal family that long-ago died out. Arwren was born in 1982 within the walls of Asmodius City and had since then burst through the ranks of the Asmodius Corps and raised to be leader after the last died of old age, being personally chosen. He has been titled as the Heir of Asmodius, the great legacy, the oncoming storm that one day, one great day there will truly be a return of the king. Not many believe this, but the philosophers of the Arcaz Sovereignty have foretold that he, who has an uncanny personality compared to the first kings, is the descendant of the lost branch of the family tree. Arwren is respectful, determined, and sometimes brash. He wants to restore complete equality. Although it would seem there is already complete peace with the active Guildeam, he believes it somewhat unfair that the neutral people do not have a representative, and that when the High Court comes to disagreements, nothing can be done and there is no decider. With a king, however, one would overrule and take responsibility, a unifying bond would be restored. Gueis can be found within the halls and chambers of King's Berth (Capitol Palace) where the royal family once ruled from.Post-Darkness of Lucifial
After the events of the Darkness of Lucifial in 2015, the Asmodius Corps began taking an interest into the witnesses and stories of Zuriel, the High Angel of Vigour. With the realisation that Hell is still very much a threat to the worlds of Non-magic and Magic Earth, a faction within the Red Guild has begun to revere and study Zuriel. Even the High Magistrate has begun studying what little factual information exists of the High Angel. For months they have prayed for the angel to communicate with them, yet he remains silent.Demography and Population
The Asmodius Corps owns the City of Asmodius, with a member count of around 100,000.
