Obelisk
The Obelisk is a monolithic structure built within the End Islands, west of Skyfall, in Terimus. It stands atop a barren flatland of hallowed ground that thrums with divine energy, cracking through the surface of the earth. It is one of the most heavily guarded locations in Occulas, patrolled at all times by paladins of Skyfall. This gigantic structure houses the currently discovered jewels of the Jewel War, as well as some other powerful artefacts that the Injustira Syndicate have come to possess and lock away.
Currently, the Obelisk houses the Crimson, Sapphire and Black Jewels.
Purpose / Function
The Obelisk was built by the Injustira Syndicate with one intention in mind, to contain and protect the jewels that were scattered across Magic Earth, and caused catastrophe during the Jewel War. The original architects made sure to create a grand structure large enough to convey huge power, but also to threaten anyone who would consider attacking it. It's sheer size and overwhelming sense of power reinforces how heavily guarded this location is. Over the centuries, this structure has housed various other objects of considerable power, which the Syndicate will not reveal.
History
Since the dawn of its inception the Obelisk has seen very little change. However, in more recent years the landmark was infiltrated and partly destroyed by Zoltan Maues, under the control of Lucifal, the Greater Demon of Betrayal. The attack left many paladins injured or dead, as well as triggering a huge debate surrounding the safety of the Obelisk. After the attack, the Crimson and the Black Jewels were stolen. After the events of the Darkness of Lucifial these were returned and safeguarded once again.
