The King's Request
As the doors swung shut behind him, the familiar sight of a blue-haired elf caught Yoruko off-guard. It wasn’t who he had expected to see here. Across the hall, sitting comfortably in a lavish chair upholstered in blue brocade lined with gold, was King Haruki. Looking up from his book, the King smiled warmly at Yoruko, then motioned to a similar chair to his right.
“Yoruko,” Haruki greeted softly as Yoruko stiffly lowered himself into the elaborate furnishing indicated to him. “I was hoping to catch you before you met with my daughter. You look exhausted. Trouble resting, perhaps?”
“Yes, I am afraid that the idea of leaving my home to go to war is not quite conducive to a good night’s trance.” Yoruko fidgeted. He liked the King, viewed him as family in fact, but their conversations always veered towards a subject he simply wasn’t equipped to address yet.
“Only your home?” Haruki smiled slightly as he spoke, his eyebrows raised teasingly. Yoruko squirmed. “You are as easy to read as ever, little one. Ah, but that is not what I hear from your peers. It seems they find you to be quite a mystery.”
“I prefer to convey myself with actions.”
“Indeed. And your actions speak volumes for you. I am told you are expected to be a quick climber amidst the Army’s ranks. Your tutors praise you highly." Haruki sighed, then closed his book. “I have a small request for you.”
Yoruko looked at him, his eyebrows raised. “I would be honored, Your Majesty.”
The King clasped his hands together slowly, his eyes trailing their movement thoughtfully. “You and my daughter have been friends for some time now. She trusts you explicitly, and I will admit that I am glad she has had your companionship." The two’s eyes met as Haruki looked back up at his guest, his expression resolute. “My point is, if something were to happen to her dearest friend at the hands of Blackmire, Sorahime may come to resent it, as well as its populace. This is something I would very much like to avoid, not only for her sake, but for yours as well.”
“Sir, do you mean to ask me to…simply not die?”
“In such simple terms, I suppose, yes. I am asking you to avoid dying. Do not sacrifice yourself foolishly for others, and act cautiously in all situations. I understand that this is a decision you are determined to follow through with, and so I will not force you to remain. But, for her sake, if not for the sake of this country, I would ask that you elevate your own well-being to your highest priority during your time serving.”
“I understand. I will do my best.” Haruki placed a hand over Yoruko’s and squeezed it reassuringly. Yoruko smiled nervously back at him.
“And perhaps if this goes well, we will have something a little more happy to discuss, hmm?” A rare, genuine smile crosses his aged face.
Yoruko found it difficult to hide the red in his face as Haruki looked on at him. He could guess what the King was referring to.

During The Assailment he managed to rise from a common officer to a shock troop commander with the moniker Black Wind. At one point he was responsible for personally leading several defeats of the Order of the Solares. Between this conflict and The Castigation of House Hinode he was subject to torture in a Davidian prison, having only survived by making a contract with Ognic, an ice devil. After being released it is known that he was the mastermind behind the coup that dethroned the incredibly unpopular King, Haruki Hinode.
He served as King of Genos for eight years before orchestrating the Dragon Attack on Blackmire, killing over a thousand people. The attack and his reign were ended at the hands of the party, who succeeded in liberating him from his contract by fulfilling the Levistus Clause.
For a few years he worked as a masked bodyguard for Sora while she served as Queen. He now owns a small clothing shop called Ribbons and Raiments where he anonymously makes custom clothing for his patrons with the assistance of a Hat of Disguise.

Mental Trauma
Torture at the hands of Grandmaster Aldhelm and Archmage Remon has left Yoruko bitter and vengeful at the Kingdom of Blackmire. Additionally, her was tormented for many years by Ognic under the guise of assistance.
Because of his long one-sided love of Sora, he is a little insecure in their relationship and often feels jealous of those who get her attention.

After his reign ended he fought to right his wrong-doings by helping to protect citizens of Blackmire during Gorrig's various attacks.
Nowadays he lives with tremendous guilt for his previous actions and will help others where he can to make up for it.

Dislikes being beholden to promises and so will refuse to be bound by them.
He is a bit of an overprotective yandere. Don't come onto his wifey or he will try to kill you.

I’ve done everything I can to prove myself to Haruki.
