The Great Davidian Island Assailment

The Conflict

Prelude

The weak response of the King of Genos to lizardfolk raiding along the southern Fallen Leaf Illes led to the King of Blackmire positioning more troops there as a protection of interests. Upon sensing weakness in the Genosian forces Blackmire attacked.

Deployment

Blackmire forces were staged around Castle Stalwart and pushed to the port town of Metis. Solares swept from Courlund and kept a line near Kippling defended from diversionary attacks.

Battlefield

  1. Castle Stalwart and Metis
  2. Rush Bay and the supply lines of the main front
  3. Kippling and the Lord's Estates

Conditions

This conflict was quick and as such was restricted to the span of two years. The eastern two fronts often had muddy conditions near waterways and as such naval-land coordination was the norm with mages positioned on ships used as artillery against fortified outposts. The west had a span of both open farmlands and patches of forest resulting in more cavalry operations and sporadic raids into the interior.

The Engagement

The Fields of Kippling saw only light conflict but served as a major distraction to the Blackmire elite cavalry units. The bays and marshes around Metis were the sites of impromptu guerrilla pushes followed by elaborate sieges and defenses both of Metis and Castle Stalwart and Rush Bay.

Outcome

The Peace of Rush Bay was signed stating that where the front lines were, so now was the border. This resulted in Genos losing claim to any of the Fallen Leaf Islands, Metis, and some territory around Kippling. They did however gain half of the town of Rush Bay so as to accord them a meeting place on neutral soil.

Aftermath

Genos had to focus its naval power to the south and give up expansion into the Fallen Leaf Isles. This also served as one of the justifications for the Castigation of House Hinode. After the cruelty shown to the various forces of Genos by King Marcus and his men he took on a vow of peace and became a devout follower of Marius to atone.

Historical Significance

Legacy

This conflict is seen as a disaster for Genos and a massive victory for Blackmire. This also has lead to the assumption that expansion into the Fallen Leaf Isles is destined for the men of the Davidian lines.
