Constable

Constables are leaders of a small number of Deputy Constables, and may temporarily join one of their subordinates in the field when a particularly challenging problem rises.
Appointment
Generally, a Deputy Constable is raised to this rank by the outpost's commander or starship's Commandant. Usually the individual is recommended by an Agent who was impressed by them in the field, or a Staff Agent 'encountering' them similarly among their statistics.
Duties
Constables function as squad leaders, and there is little in the way of legislation concerning that matter. In reality, many Constables put in extra effort to assign their subordinates to tasks that suit their abilities.
Responsibilities
The main task Constables are charged with is guiding their assigned Deputy Constables. They may be spread out over a planet if a member of the Constabulary, or fly with their squad in combat or patrol a sector of space if part of Overwatch. They often join (if they are unavailable they will send another Deputy Constable or request a Special Agent) Deputy Constables that request backup.
Benefits
In addition to the gear made available to them by the Stewards, Constables are granted access to information and equipment so as to assist with the coordination of their charges. Usually this is a specialised datapad enabling them to track the progression of their Deputy Constable's tasks, but may also be used to access information restricted by the Stewards from even law enforcement.
