The Krakonia National Library - KNL

Located in the Sky District of Krakonia City , next to The Mages Guild of Krakonia(MGK) , and managed by lead librarian, Lily Dreamblazer , the Krakonia National Library (KNL) is The Kingdom of Krakonia's largest, most accessible public library, despite technically being owned by the MGK. While one would assume visitation is limited to those within the guild, the reality is that the vast majority of literature located within the sizeable location is publicly available to any citizen of Krakonia with a library coin. Getting one of these coins is as simple as proving that one lives within the kingdom's borders and is an official citizen. There are, however, certain sections more specific to the needs to guild members that are closed off to anyone not associated with the guild, and within that, there is a small, forbidden section that only select individuals are allowed to enter. Since the library is associated with the MGK full of powerful spellcasters, it's no surprise that very few people even know where the forbidden section is, let alone how to gain access to it. While it is ultimately the king's decision as to which books to ban, it is generally a decision that is advised and carried out by the MGK. Considering that the current king, Daerius Quintus , is a passionate historian first, inquisitive adventurer second, and leader of a nation third, it follows that the kingdom doesn't ban books lightly, only exercising that particular power for unique, dangerous books that can do true harm in the wrong hands.

The library itself, as large as it may be compared to any other library in the kingdom, is still noticeably devoid of books. Many empty shelves cover the walls and halls of the library as a means of making room, so to speak, for the many pieces of literature that librarians anticipate will fill the shelves over time. It is a reminder, in many ways, that the Kingdom of Krakonia is a new kingdom in a land that entered a new era very recently due to The Effects of the Dawn , and as such, still needs writers to actually write, publish, and copy their works of literature. The librarians also anticipate, on Daerius Quintus's orders, the arrival of old texts from The First Civilization that the king is convinced must be hiding somewhere on Requerm . Eventually adventurers will uncover these texts, and the KNL is prepared to make room for them immediately when they do.

Like most libraries, the KNL is a quiet place of study, and enforces strict laws that prevent the disruption of said study. As such, there are rooms within the library that allow for collaboration between researchers, students, or any other citizen that feels compelled to open their mouth in such a reverent place of book worship. It also allows for the removal of most books in the library, so long as the book is ultimately returned on time. Unlike what one would expect from a typical library, the KNL is authorized to employ an overzealous amount of authority when searching for books that haven't been returned on time, and has a reputation for doing so. Everyone makes fun of the KNL Book Collectors until they come knocking on their door, weapons in hand. Beyond that, certain books cannot be removed from the library, due to a high degree of relevance to important studies that therefore need to be accessible at all times (i.e. medical textbooks, etc), or simply because demand for it is too high to be taken out for an extended period of time.

Because of the sheer size and scope of the library, as well as the needs of many different scholars from many different disciplines, the KNL employs around-the-clock service by highly qualified librarians that keep the library clean, orderly, and organized. Leading this group of librarians is Lily Dreamblazer, although not too many visitors to the KNL can claim to have ever actually seen the woman in person. She's generally the one in charge of organizing the most relevant or important texts for eccentric arcane researchers, and is as such almost as difficult to pin down as Samuel Evergreen himself.
