King Daerius Quintus of Krakonia

This balding, Samaran man with thick eyebrows partially obscuring the friendly look on his face, often stands straight, his noble background evident through his regal silk suit, large golden amulet, and prideful posture. He has a sizeable Black Kraken Arbiter's  mark on his head, clearly visible due to his bald spot. Despite this elite appearance, he often breaks character to welcome all those he comes across with his large smile and polite bows.

Daerius Quintus is the current king of The Kingdom of Krakonia , the founding father of the nation after securing its future during The Unification Wars . He is not known much for fighting on the front lines, but rather leading with the knowledge he has amassed through many Samsaran lifetimes as well as the advice granted to him from his most trusted advisors. He has earned his place as leader due to his high intellect and emboldening speeches, rallying many different, conflicting cultures under the same banner through the art of compromise.
Daerius Quintus was among the first souls to appear during The Dawn . He soon befriended several prominent adventurers that had also appeared during the Dawn, including Ashley Windsong , Samuel Evergreen , Kah'Rael Warenza , and Horus Spintail , as well as a native guide, Fyliss Streamwalker , forming an adventuring party in equal parts due to necessity of survival as well as newfound comradery. At first, they kept out of the petty conflicts between warring tribes, instead electing to use their varied talents to explore the vastly undiscovered world before them. It was during these travels that Quintus, alongside his party, began making a name for himself as a reliable adventurer who would help those in need, from peasants barely scraping by to warlords needing an extra push against the many great beasts of Requerm. Their early success as adventurers resulted in their party being dubbed the The Harbingers of the Rising Dawn , as they were viewed as a beacon of light and hope in such a dreary, confusing landscape. Quintus was generally considered the de facto leader of the Harbingers, although he rarely had to act as a leader within the party, as he felt that he could trust his fellow party members to make the right decisions without his input. He instead considered his main role as the Jack of All Trades, being able to fill any niche that was needed at the time with his basic knowledge of a great many different topics and talents, from casting support magic to being a melee flanker to sailing ships to quoting random obscure facts from centuries of history in his plane of origin.
Eventually, Quintus and his party discovered old ruins of a once bustling town that had evidently survived the passage of time, not only revealing a relic of a bygone era in Requerm from before the Dawn that needed to be studied, but also a fascinating old tavern known in old, discovered texts as The Hook . Quintus quickly discovered the history of the tavern as a place where adventurers of old would gather to eat, drink, and form adventuring parties for those looking for work. Inspired by this discovery, Quintus and his party took it upon themselves to renovate the old tavern, enlisting those they had helped in the past to repay them by rebuilding an entire castle around this old tavern. The result was Silver Gull Castle, named after the seagulls on the coast nearby and the modest silver currency that was used to pay for it. At the time, it was built mainly to protect the newly renovated tavern, so that adventurers from around the world could once more discover work in a safe place filled with food and entertainment.
As notoriety of Silver Gull Castle grew, so did the ranks of those interested in maintaining it for profit. It didn't take too long for Quintus to realize he had inadvertently uncovered a desire among the masses for unification, with many adventurers and civilians alike flocking to the castle to avoid the deadly wars that kept ravaging the land in every direction. Named in the spirit of the symbol of The Hook, as well as the arbiters marks found on all of the Harbingers, Daerius Quintus officially founded Krakonia City , a safe haven from power-hungry warlords, and rebranded Silver Gull Castle as Krakonia Castle . As more and more people flocked inside the walls of the city, Quintus came to realize the burning desire among the masses for true leadership and change. Krakonia City was filled with people from many different walks of life affected equally by the Dawn who all desperately wanted safety and unity in these confusing times of conflict. As tribal conflicts grew, it became more obvious that most were fighting for survival of their own cultures brought with them from the Dawn at the expense of other cultures. With the help of his old adventuring party, now turned political advisors, Quintus officially entered Krakonia into these territorial wars, declaring war on not the opposing tribes, but rather the conflict of expansion itself, calling it the The Unification Wars.
Over time, Krakonia's influence grew as its military found success after success, absorbing the cultures of those it defeated. After decades of brutal war, Krakonia stood alone, the final bastion of opposition having fallen to Krakonia's influence in the area. Having defeated every known opponent and surrounded himself with the approving uproar of his many new citizens, Daerius Quintus declared victory over the Unification Wars and rebranded all of their territory as The Kingdom of Krakonia, making Krakonia City its capital, and he its king.   Nowadays King Daerius Quintus of Krakonia can mostly be found in Krakonia Castle, now also known as the Heart of the Kraken, leading his people by example. He has made it a point to allow all cultures to thrive within reason inside his kingdom's borders, easing the fears of those who worried their ways of life would be wiped out. He has done this with Krakonia's Clan System , where those within a clan are more or less free to live the way they wish to live as long as they do not directly conflict with another clan's way of life. This compromise has done wonders for morale, but it is not without its consequences. Quintus is often busy attempting to personally quell unrest between clans, leaving little time for direct audiences with concerned citizens, instead choosing to leave that work to his diplomats.
The best way people have discovered to find him personally is to catch him on an outing in The Hook, where he goes to relieve stress and observe all the licensed adventurers get along and work together. He likes to observe as a reminder of his own origins as well as his people's, taking solace in the fact that even though he himself is now too busy to go adventuring, he can at least live vicariously through the next generation of adventurers reporting to his employees about their many travels.
Daerius Quintus first appeared in the campaign during the first prologue session. He was briefly seen enjoying some downtime at The Hook and commented on Wheezer McGeezer 's spirit as an adventurer.
