The Clan of the Crooked Branch

The Clan of the Crooked Branch is one of The Clans of Krakonia , and is largely made up of Pterasits from Crooked Branch Village , although anyone interested is welcome to apply to join the clan. The clan is best known for its involvement in navigating the Requerm wilds, using their native, ancient knowledge to help newcomers survive against Great Beasts and other potential hazards in the area. They are particularly helpful in navigating arcane hazards, their natural ability to sense the arcane world around them being an integral part of their livelihoods. It is for these reasons that they often send their own to join The Adventurers Guild of Krakonia (AGK) and The Hunters Guild of Krakonia (HGK) , as well as occasionally The Mages Guild of Krakonia (MGK) , as these three guilds always have work for them.

The Clan has a similar history to many of the clans in The Kingdom of Krakonia , having been established as part of a diplomatic merge between the Kingdom and Crooked Branch Village as a result of the The Unification Wars . The able-bodied and intelligent inhabitants of the village happily assisted Krakonia's army during the war, using their expertise in the surrounding lands to navigate the foreigners towards the harmful enemies threatening their peaceful way of life. Once the war concluded, the village was officially assimilated into the Kingdom, and its people given a level of diplomatic independence as an official clan. In return, the clan sends some of its finest warriors and scholars to assist the various Guilds of Krakonia and The Kraken's Reach , and has sworn to assist Krakonian adventurers, soldiers, and travelers that happen upon their territory with the same level of hospitality that they would provide their own people.

The current leader of the clan is Basil of the Crooked Branch, who also happens to, unsurprisingly, be the mayor of Crooked Branch Village. While officially there is no connection between the title of mayor and the title of clan leader, the citizens of the village pretty much unanimously decided that the two positions be treated as one and the same, since the vast majority of citizens in the village are also members of the clan.
