Lykedamons

Playing off the name for people living in Laconia, Lykedaemons are a pack of savage monsters cursed to live out their days as walking embodiments of their inner-most desires.

To many Ancient Greek scholars, daemons were seen as the division of one's conscience (angel and devil on one's shoulder).

For the Hellecians, Lykedamons aren't metaphysical constructs to explain higher thought. But a real danger to those who let the Cosmic Aurora manifest their darkest desires.

In fact, the reason the Perxis-Sadem are reviled as public enemy #1 is their propensity to twist Hellecians into monstrous amalgams. They'd poison a victim's Ichor in order to feast on the horrifying concoction of tainted Ichor and genetic material.

As a result, the tainted Ichor would seek the nearest host to replenish the lost genetic material. Releasing the twisted embodiment of one's Lykedamon.

However, this condition is greatly misunderstood by the younger generation following the Perxis-Sadem invasion. Believing Lykedamons are simply the pack of savage beasts that prowl the wastes of the Taygestronese, killing every living thing under the light of its brown dwarf.

Providing Attican Core Worlders especially pretext in painting The Taygestronese as savage and an indelible part of the barbarous hordes of The Shackle (instead of its physical location in the Frontier Worlds).

This misunderstanding stems from the story of King Lykediax. A tale Hellecian parents taught their children from being disobedient and abusing their Ichor.

In the days of the Pantheon Hegemony and the god planet Karoj-Menos, an Archaenid King Lykediax was a son of Archaenus or grandson of Zeus and a capable administrator in his Stable Lord's Palace.

When the Invasion of the Progenitors and the Helio-Apollan Binary Supernovae tore the planet apart, Lykediax declared himself king and secured stability over (what would eventually become) The Taygestronese against the marauding pirate bands during the Age of Anarchy.

That is until the Lacdrians (former Dodrians) found the fragments of their progenitor Dodros and claimed the Taygestronese as their new home.

One day, King Lykediax was visited by his father Zeus who claimed hospitality and protection as his father. Being a gracious host and loyal son, the king obliged his raggedy father and his exiled cousins.

Seeing an opportunity to take The Taygestronese back with the help of his grandfather, King Lykediax sought to test the power of the deposed king of the Gods.

Over the months, King Lykediax prepared feast after feast for his secret guest. After the following months of Zeus' stay, his grandfather asked where he found so much food in a desolate asteroid range.

Disappointed, the king snapped his fingers and dropped the illusion. Before Zeus lay the remains of his cooked children. Sitting on the god's plate, Zeus found the prepared body of Lykediax's own son: Taygestos with a bite taken out of it.

Incensed, Zeus stood and beat Lykediax to death.

Now stripped of his grandson's hospitality and a safe place to stay, Zeus panicked until he spotted the king's hunting dogs eating scraps outside.

Using all his remaining strength, Zeus drew out the daemons of Lykediax's entire family and materialized them inside the king's dogs.

Turned into savage and deformed beasts of all sizes, the Lykedamons became the actual demons of the cluster. Following the light of their brown dwarf star and devouring every living thing it touches.

The only one Zeus spared was his son Taygestos. Catching his pity, Zeus brought the boy back to life. Even giving him a gold arm to replace the one Zeus ate as a reminder what happens when one allows their daemon to twist the Cosmic Aurora for selfish reasons.

Ever since, the cluster was named The Taygestronese from then on. The Lykedamons would continue to ravage the massive cluster, their numbers continue to multiply as they bound from rock to rock across the Taygestronese.

Thus children throughout the sector are taught to obey their parents otherwise Zeus'll come in the night and take them away to become Lykedamons. Forever tarnishing the image of those like the Molastifs whose dog-like appearance gets confused for Lykedamons.

As for Taygestos, he would become a member of The Psygorellius as an older generation Psygonaut under King Thesacles. Vowing to find a cure for his family's curse and to work off the debt his father owes to the citizens of the cluster.
