Perxis-Sadem

Seen as the enemy of all enemies (as the Persian Empire was to the Greek City-States). The Perxis-Sadem is a race of insectoids whose hunger for Ichor and the ability to assimilate the weak-minded into the hive.

Conquering & assimilating the old empires around their capital world of Nalybaba, none could resist the Grand Abcipitor and his Shatrapzi. All except the Hellecian Sector.

Under the protection of the Pantheon, the swarms of the Perxis-Sadem were held at bay. Until the day the Hellecians killed their gods. And the swarms descended on the sector still ravaged by the Age of Anarchy.

Only by uniting against these seemingly mindless creatures did the Patrokonoi-Hellecia repel the invaders and recover after the Age of Anarchy.

While the surviving Perxis drones and shatrapzi were either executed or shipped off as slaves or fodder in underground fighting pits. Little did the Hellecians know, the Perxis share similar blood.

Origins:

While many rectors refuse to take a Medezi (or Perxis drone) at their word, due to their subversive nature. Wax tablets from the libraries of Nablybaba Hive and the birth records of the Bal-Puneroi royal house suggest the progenitor Perxis was the son of a Bal-Puneran princess and the Hellecian Hero Pernesus (a son of Iodium).

According to the records, Perxis was born to a wet nurse out of wedlock and was hideously deformed (meant to cover up its royal lineage). On the wax tablets, the child was left to die of exposure on the desert world of Asyr-Cosh. However, the baby was saved by the insectoid Coshayresh race living in the outskirts of the Medezi Empire.

Raised on Coshayri millipede silk, Perxis grew into a hybrid of this adopted family's insectoid traits and the traits of his grandfather Iodium.

Once he reached puberty, his Ichor developed and discovered he could invade the minds of his adopted family. With this new power, he became the new chief of the Coshayresh and bred with the queen to make a brood of insectoids that would crush the Medezi Empire.

Over time, the Plague of Perxis (as it was known before the fall of the empire) swept through the clusters of the Achmedezi Sector. Conquering and spawning armies from the insectoid populations of the empire. Eventually, the hive minds of the Perxis stormed the capital planet of Ecnaberate.

Upon drinking the royal Ambracian Nectar cocktail and spawning with the Medezi royal line, the Perxis-Sadem was established with the birth of the first Grand Abcipitor: Cyprexis the Swarm.

Now linked in mind and body with the whole of their empire, Cyprexis the Swarm could command the entirety of the Perxis-Sadem as an extension of himself, using his Shatrapazi as hive minds to do his bidding.

Diplomacy before Consumption:

As his rule through the Achmedezi Sector was secure through assimilation (called Medemizing), the Grand Abcipitor found it difficult to keep his mind focused with an entire empire floating through his every thought.

His only means of dulling the voices was in drinking his Ambracian Nectar. Every day, his thirst for the nectar grew. So much so, missing his daily dosage of nectar were onset by withdrawal and painful headaches that evolved into rage and bloodlust.

Cyprexis' headaches only grew worse until the strain caused massive cerebral hemorrhaging, killing the Grand Abcipitor instantly.

While the Perxis-Sadem enjoyed stability under the descendants of Cyprexis, "Nectar Madness" (as it became known) struck his children in the same magnitude. Even with all the scientists, wise men & witch doctors of the Perxis-Sadem, no one could prevent the Grand Abcipitor's death by this affliction.

Until one day, a former Medezi knowledge keeper appeared in the courts of Xerbexis the Conquerer and gave him a sample of Ichor he stole from a traveling merchant that could cure his family's "Nectar Madness."

A single ounce injected into the Grand Abcipitor's thorax gave the respite of 1,000 barrels of Nectar. Asking him where this Ichor came from, the Medezi bartered for his life. Agreeing to his terms, the Medezi told the ruler of the Hellecian Sector with deities with gallons of Ichor stored in their squishy thoraxes.

However, this ruling "Pantheon" would repel any invasion by the swarm. But for the price of a shantrapazi in this sector of space, this Medezi would use his knowledge of the sector to lower their defenses in anticipation for the Great Xerbexis and his invasion.

Pledging a sacred vow sealed on the thoraxes of the Grand Abcipitor and the newly-minted Tissaf-Sadem, his new servant left for the Hellecian Sector in service to his master.

The Invasion of the Hellecian Sector:

After months of silence from his servant Tissaf-Sadem and the "Nectar Madness" creeping in, the Grand Abcipitor gathered his swarm to invade the sector regardless of their defenses.

However, at that moment, Xerbexis found a connection to Tissaf-Sadem and it was within the Hellecian Sector.

From that moment on, Xerbexis and his Perxis-Sadem was the scourge of the Hellecians. While they left their temples and holy places of their gods (unaware they were responsible for their deaths), the swarm devoured Hellecians indiscriminately and collected their Ichor for the Grand Abcipitor.

While their biology kept them from fully assimilating into the Perxis-Sadem, the Grand Abcipitor was able to "Medemize" Hellecian-allies into giving over control of their clusters to the swarm. Giving the customary tribute of Ambrocia & Nectar (substituted for Ichor).

On the verge of consuming the entirety of the sector, the united Hellecians caused setback after setback. Driving his drones and his "Medemized" agents within the Hellecian ranks away from the Attican Core Worlds.

While Xerbexis had the resources to wear down the Hellecians, the cosmic intervention of Pontus (the titan of the ISM or Interstellar Medium) trapped all residents of the Hellecian Sector within the palm of his hand; thus creating the Pontic Shell.

Unable to send reinforcements through the thick wall of asteroids/debris/ISM monsters, Xerbexis called off the invasion and retreated back to Nalybaba.

While seen as a small ripple in the affairs of the Perxis-Sadem, the defeat of the Perxis-Sadem became a rallying point for all Hellecians. The image of the Perxis-Sadem became synonymous as evil incarnate, while any cluster that "Medemized" to the insectoids was shunned and disgraced.

This invasion (along with an outbreak of Poisoned Femur Madness) forced the Patrokonoi-Hellecia to place the strictest of penalties to anyone who gives out unrefined Ichor to anyone other than a Hellecian citizen without express permission or testing.

Even though the Perxis-Sadem was beaten back and labeled the enemy of all enemies. Many clusters will be forced to do the unthinkable later on in the war between the Delots and Lanaxdrians: Medemize.
Home Cluster: Suzminanan Hive (outside of Hellecian Sector)
