Iodium

Twin brother of Archaenus, Iodium is the progenitor of the Ionites and the perpetrator responsible for the Iodium Curse and its Twelve Labors.

Origins:

Born from Hellestine genetic material, a transplanted egg from Hera, placed inside one of Zeus' lovers. Ready to cast the infant twins into Tartarus, Hera spared them after seeing her eyes in Iodium.

Iodium was shy and unassuming, compared to his boisterous and confident brother Archaneus.

One day, his brother challenged him to a Hermigron or a Mycestian-powered flying chariot race. And Iodium won.

In a fit of jealousy, Archaenus nearly killed Iodium after striking him in the head with a rock.

However, his soul didn't go to Hades. He went to the Land of Dreams, ruled by Hypnos.

While stuck in this dream world, Iodium learned to traverse the dreams of the sleeping. And eventually discovering a wider galaxy outside the bounds of Olympus (sheltered by Hera), the dreams of Karoj-Menos, and the dreams of his real mother Hellestine.

Adulthood:

Brought back to the world of the living, Iodium and Archaenus were tasked with running errands for the gods as penance for the scuffle (giving Iodium the honor of driving the Harmiot or flying chariot, Archaenus being his shield bearer).

Relaying his revelations to his brother, Archaenus pushed his brother to break the rules and travel to the distant worlds outside of Olympus.

Eventually, Archaenus would experiment with the local wildlife. Eventually, "creating" the first Archaenids.

After their penance was done, Iodium devoted himself to the gods. He became a priest for Hestia and a psychopomp for Hades.

As a gift, Hestia took a handful of Archaenids and changed them into the first Ionites to help him in serving her hearth.

The Invasion:

Once Iodium became an important administrator. Hellestine revealed herself to her son and told him to contact his siblings through their dreams.

After laying a plan to destroy the gods and supplant themselves. Iodium betrayed his mother and siblings to Hera who had them imprisoned in Karoj-Menos.

After a change of heart, Iodium broke them out of prison.

Following a skirmish with the pursuing gods, his siblings and mortally-wounded mother escaped. They vowed revenge and spent the next century preparing the invasion of Karoj-Menos.

Aftermath:

Leading up to the sacking of Karoj-Menos and the assassination of his master Hermes, Iodium and his children gave sanctuary to the surviving minor deities and enemies of the Pantheon into the the remaining sanctuary temples.

Iodium (and his children) forsook their sacred vows and murdered Hestia, Persephone & his adopted mother Hera in cold blood.

Hera cursed her favorite son and his offspring to live in someone else's home, eat someone else's harvest, and wander the heavens for a home they'll never find.

Only by completing Hera's twelve labors will Iodium's dyasma (or Diaspora stain) be lifted.

Even after the death of Archaneus and his new role as the eldest sibling of the newly-formed Patrokonoi-Hellecia. His siblings and their offspring never gave Iodium the respect or credit; stigmatizing his people as wandering, backstabbing  vagrants who forsake their vows.

It was Iodium that established the Flotilla, the See of the Reliquary Archdiocese, the Universal Historical Parish & the system of colonists between their twin brother patrokonoi: the Delothian Collective.

Eventually, Iodium died when he gave his Ichor to preserve the life support systems of The Reliquary during the Perxis-Sadem invasion of the sector.
