Delothian Collective

Considered the most powerful & influential of the four Patrokonoi-Hellecia, the Delothian Collective is a highly sophisticated democratic society run by robotic drones called Delots.

Originating from the eldest Hellecian tribe: the Archaenids, the Collective's power comes from their ingenuity & seemingly limitless resources, thanks to their control of interstellar travel through the DST Accelerator Lanes and their massive armada.

Their primary rival is the Diarchy of the Lanaxdrian Warrior States.

Represented by the Council of the Ten Digits as the backwards slide of cultural progress back to kings and despots. The Collective and the Warrior States will be the main contenders in the upcoming war that will once again determine the fate of the universe: a visual struggle between Authority vs. Tradition

Origins:

During their preparations to invade Karoj-Menos, the legendary Dactylon the Inventor made a discovery. Seeing as Archaenids were able to integrate technology directly into their physiology, thanks to the newly-discovered power source known as COAG.

The inventor requested the extraction of blood or Ichor from the three primary gods: Zeus, Hades & Poseidon to test a theory.

Even though the Lacdrians (or Lanaxdrians) got Poseidon's Ichor, the master engineer was able to use Zeus, Hades & a bit of Athena's Ichor to create the Soul Matrix Conversion: the process of converting one's soul into digital information and transmitting it wirelessly over hub stations.

From this discovery and the gift of Zeus' floating Eye of Fate given to their progenitor, the Delots were born. Entire armies could now be comprised of disposable and fully unmanned drones, piloted from the safety of one's homeworld.

While this discovery was instrumental in beating back the Swarms of the invading Perxis-Sadem. The Hellecians were unaware this society of remorseless drones was about to enslave the entire sector (along with themselves) in a culture of automation and macro-compliance laid out in their supreme operating system known as the DTOS.

Hegemony & the DTOS:

While being partially responsible for ushering in the Age of Anarchy (providing ships to the bands of raiders who sacked centers of commerce rather than settle new ones). The Delots proposed a plan that would ensure the sector would never fall into anarchy again.

While the crux of their plan involved the Delots controlling crucial junctions of Hellecian society. The Thesaclean Plan was ratified by all four rulers of the four Patronkonoi-Hellecia in no small part due to the charisma of the legendary King Thesacles of the Archaenids, following the death of his father Archeanus.

Expiring after 40 years or when relative stability returns to the sector (whichever comes first), this plan would involve small delegations of Delot drones (comprised of enslaved Perxis-Sadem soldiers and prisoners of war) to perform the following:

  • Assist in the reconstruction of destroyed planets from both the Karoj-Menos supernovae, The Age of Anarchy & the Perxis-Sadem
  • Maintaining a massive peacekeeping armada throughout the sector to serve as protection against any vengeful deities, their 'Exalted Orphans' & their Perxis-Sadem slaves.

While the first wave of Delots were involuntarily pressed into service (taking inspiration from the Spartan Helots of Ancient Greece), the Delot-Thesacles Operation System or DTOS forced them to comply with the lines of code that became their eternal lives of servitude.

Even in Archaenid life, the DTOS dictates how a citizen can act within the walls of their highly-automated cities (sold to planets as instant metropolises) and at the core of the processing units as Delots.

So no matter what actions a single Delot unit takes, they are physically incapable of outright breaking the laws laid out in the DTOS. However, exploiting loopholes in the DTOS is allowed; even becoming a legitimate profession in most Collective cities after Version 5.0.

But if a Delothian court and its citizen juries find a Delot guilt of breaking the DTOS, punishments can range from a fine of a few liters of Ichor to forced military service to getting the death sentence (magnetizing one's matrix).

Relative peace returned to the sector as waves of Delots either rebuilt vital infrastructure or were sold to private citizens as live-in servants.

However, civic life in these automated cities had one flaw: the organics. While the generation who lived through the Age of Anarchy died out, the new generation was felt trapped and cooped up in these walls (untested by external conflicts).

Seeing the superior position of the Archaenids' in the sector and the pact nearing its expiration date. The council of the Archaenid oligarchs and democrats of the various Hellecian clusters debated on what to do next.

While the details and transcripts of these meetings have been lost (or destroyed), what resulted from this meeting was a complete cultural upheaval:

massive updates are made to DTOS 5.0 - granting Delots more extensive control over planetary infrastructure, the formation of the first Council of the Ten Digits (eventually run by the Delots), victimizing the current generation of Delots, the council granting the first Delot citizenship & making the term 'Archaenid' synonymous with slavers, tyrants and the cultural villains of all things good.

The Collective as the audience will see during the series is born.

Organization:

During the series, the Collective will have a complicated history with the rest of the sector. While some would see it as "the" evil empire (mostly the Lanaxdrians or Dodrians), everyone else will see the Delots as a necessary evil being as their own prosperity is wrapped up in Delothian infrastructure.

By the time of version 7.1 of the DTOS, the whole of Cis-Enders or Archaenids (in the new vernacular) have converted into Delots. While most live Soul Matrices live on until their accompanying hub stations are destroyed, the integrity of version 3.5 and older Soul Matrices tend to wear out and eventually shutdown forever.

So to keep increasing their population, Delot society was structured to make aspiring to become a member of this exclusive rank the greatest achievement for an Cis-Ender:

A Cis-Ender is born --> raised by Cis-Ender nannies or boarding schools (based on the family's wealth) --> take a specialized test to determine the career path for the rest of their lives --> pupil will go down this path, along with accompanying socialization and physical training (measured by standardized testing) --> The Cis-Ender will take a Capstone Educational Compliance (CEC) exam, determining their aptitude for their path --> Once a Cis-Ender passes this test, it will join the workforce --> After which will be selected a mate, based on their test scores and genetics  --> Once a couple has produced at least 1-3 children, they become eligible for Soul Matrix Conversion --> after filling out the proper paperwork, paying an enormous fee to the Collective & passing the inspections from the Office of Genetic Integrity: the Cis-Ender will be allowed to become a Delot --> After the Soul Matrix conversion is complete, the new Delot will be uploaded into their new autonomous body and given their inoculation of Ichor.

For those who fail at any point in this process will be funneled into the slums and spend their days scratching out a living at the bottom of the Delot social ladder.

For those who succeed, a new life will await their eternal lives as a Delot.

Most standard Delot models possess the following: a floating metal chassis with a glowing blue ocular sensor, a hard light projection field emitter (allows a Delot to project a customizable humanoid made of hard light that can grasp physical objects), wireless access to Delot hub networks and infrastructural devices (varies on clearance level), Synaptic Computational Motherboards (allows Delots to communicate their thoughts to other units, even enable cloud computing based on the number of connected Delot units), Plasmatic Memory Converters (allows data to be sent through Delot hubs as packets of light photons to be stored on massive cloud servers of Deloth) &  most importantly their Soul Matrix Chamber (where a fragment of their digitized soul is stored and controls the Delot Unit).

Many of the Collective's social customs (governed by the DTOS) will be based on Classical Athens such as virtual law courts where all citizens can participate on juries to collect virtual money from the state that can only be used in the city, broadcasted speeches from the Pnyx on Deloth to address matters of the Collective (along with voting on said matters) & the performance of liturgies by higher level Delots (sponsoring tri-decks, funding the construction of public works or festivals, etc).

In terms of representation and value of a delegate's vote within the closed meetings of the Collective citizenry is determined by the number of Ionite colonists in their respective regions.

Being their twin brother patrokonoi: The Ionites and cursed to wander in their massive flotilla by their step mother Hera. The Collective gives the Ionites homes by using them to cultivate their colonies and to pilot their ships (given their talents of extra sensory perception in deep space) & to become pseudo-citizens on their respective planets (see them as the Zeugitae of Classical Athens).

The more Ionite colonists in a delegate's region, the more value one's vote has in the closed meetings of the Collective Citizenry.

The only restrictions placed on Delots in civic life would be their Public Opulence Value (POV), generated by their previous test scores and maintained by the level of prestige they gained or lost as a Delot.

Levels 1-4 would be lowest of the highest and restrict them from voting on matters of the Collective, holding major (and some minor) Patorkonoi Positions, and prevent access to certain levels in major superstructures of the Delot interior.

Levels 5-7 would be intermediate and only restrict them from making unilateral decisions on behalf of the Collective and from obtaining higher positions in government without an election.

Levels 8-10 would be the wealthiest, notorious, and most well-respected Delots in their respective clusters. Almost on the level of a god, these Delots could take almost anything they wanted (within reason of the DTOS) and take nearly any position they wanted (minus the Council of the Ten Digits; which they'd be qualified to run for these offices).

In short, a Delot's POV Level, wealth in liters of Ichor & compliance to the DTOS (and decisions from the Council of the Ten Digits) is life.

Events Leading up to Lanaxdrian Conflict:

Starting back with their respective progenitors Archaenus & Dodrus , the Archaenids & Dodrians have had an intense rivalry back when they use to use to refer to each other with these names.

However, the events leading into the series started with the incident at the Festival of Shattered Gold

This is a sacred festival for all Hellecians as it celebrates the story of the Patrokonoi-Hellecian matriarch: Hellestine and the four progenitors' victory over the gods in a month long party on a rotating Patrokonoi's host planet.

However, during year the Lacdrians (previously the Dodrians) were to host, the Delots refused the Lacdrians the honor of hosting and making the role of Hellestine to the beautiful and well-respected Lacdrian princess Lanaxdrite.

Given that the Collective forced the Lacdrians off their homeworld of Lycurgius-12 after attacking encroaching Ionite colonists, they refused on the grounds that the Lacdrians settled on the Delot client planet of Thessalis-Prime (on request of the Aeonites ) the Delots should be the hosts of the festival.

After coming to an agreement, the festival went on as scheduled with the Lacdrians hosting the festivities.

However, during a tour of the crowded industrial cities of Thessalis-Prime with the medium, a group of armed assailants brandishing weaponized fulcrums kidnapped the Lacdrian princess to coerce the Collective and Warrior States to improve the conditions of Thessalinokki slums.

In an instance of miscommunication, a Delot gunner accidentally fired on Lanaxdrite's transport near a stockpile of industrial waste. The resulting explosion killed the Lacdrian princess and sparked a riot throughout Thessalis-Prime and the rest of the sector. Hijacking ships and O-Dock control docks on the surface, most of the enslaved populations of the Lacdrians (now Lanaxdrians in honor of their princess) and allied Aeonites escaped into the impassible asteroid range of the Taygestronese.

While the Delothian narrative was an accident, most Lanaxdrian-supporters believed it was intentional to give the Delots pretext to take possession of Thessalis-Prime from the Aeonites and expel their hated rivals from their strategically important cluster near the center of the Hellecian Sector.

While the ships were tracked going in the Taygestronese, not a single scouting ship has returned with any evidence of the escaping Lanaxdrians' demise. However, most Hellecians believe the Lanaxdrians are still alive and preparing for the "war to end all wars."  To unseat the Delots as the hegemons of the sector and liberate their fellow brothers and sisters from the Collective's oppression.
