Ice Dragon

Ice dragons are a species of Dragon, and one of the seventeen primary dragon types.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Ice dragons have the same basic anatomy as any dragon. Ice dragons' scales are razor sharp, and instead of layering on top of each other they stick up slightly. Whereas most dragons only have two horns, the top and back of an ice dragon's head is lined with an arc of icy needles sticking straight back, almost like a crown. Ice dragons have a row of sharp spines lining from their neck to their tail.

Biological Traits

Ice dragons have a very low body temperature that must be maintained in order to survive. They can overheat very easily, and extremely warm temperatures are fatal.

Genetics and Reproduction

Dragons reproduce sexually, and give birth via eggs. However, dragon eggs are extremely durable, to the point of being invincible.

Growth Rate & Stages

Dragons mature very quickly at the start of their life, both physically and mentally. As time passes, this growth slows to a normal rate, and stays that way for the rest of their lives. During the first six years or so, dragons will grow at an incredible rate.

Ecology and Habitats

Extremely cold areas, Icrillon

Dietary Needs and Habits

Ice dragons hunt animals like walrus, seal, and killer whales.

Behaviour

Ice dragons have, predictably, a cold disposition. They're slow to trust, and aren't friends with many other dragon species. They get along somewhat with ice fairies and selkie. Ice dragons often say things that come off as cruel or mean-spirited, but the fact of the matter is, ice dragons are terrible at social interaction.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Ice dragon scales, when set in weapons, will make that weapon freeze anything it touches. When set in armor, it will make the wearer resistant to cold.
