Tinkers, Craftsmen and Chemists

Alterationists are the craftsmen, alchemists and builders of the College, usually tasked with the creation of equipment and the construction and upkeep of the College. Such work is considered a distraction from the true calling of the Alterationists, the creation of strange artifacts and unusual substances through complicated, secretive processes. While some Alterationists seek to greatly improve society with their inventions, others seek to create potions, amalgums and strange brews of a more nefarious nature, seeking wealth, power and esteem through the sale of discrete and illegal arcane machinations.

Beyond Alchemy and Artifice

Alteration is one of the most dangerous forms of magic, evidenced by the surviving artifacts of the Tekal, Sanshid and the Dream Alchemists of Kazmora. In the final days of Third Kazmora, the Dream Alchemists are thought to have disappeared into the endless form of Kahen-Sah, possibly signaling the herald and bringing about the arrival of the Akkan-Shai.

Whether these tales or true or not, those who practice Alteration have profound power over the material; Alterationists can command constructs and bend artifice to their will, change the properties of matter and create items through the effort of sheer will.
