Universal

The universal school of magic practiced by the Novumvirate, a group represented in the Arcane College whose origin is tied to the idea that the lost Nine Tomes of Keidon chronicled how the nine schools of magic could be employed in the reconstruction of society. Other schools tend to look down on the Novumvirate as they teach the newest and least experienced students and wards of the college, but several subsects of the Novumvirate preside over the highest levels of administration and rulership of the Arcane College as a whole. While these sects have varying local beliefs about the origins, form and illustrator of the Nine, each believes that the symmetry of the number 9 is sacred and each has a tradition of studying and searching for Nine ancient artifacts of magical power. There are many other legends which live in and out of the Novumvirate about the Nine Tomes, and many local and regional traditions associated with the Novumvirate that aren't tied to the Tomes of Keidon.

Theoretical Universalism

These studious scholars of magic rites and arcane procedures are concerned with understanding arcane activity and its consequences and are experts on the manifestation and nullification of magic. Grounded in both the literature of their forebearers and practiced in both the performance and potential outcomes of ritual and arcane energy, they focus their studies primarily on the precise application and measurable effects of magic. Mages that study theoretical universalism have the best general understanding of how the Shroud, the Void and other sources of power interact with the natural.

Material Universalism

Applied universalists are experts on the matter of arcane objects and components and their uses and effect, including how magical objects are created and how they can most efficiently be employed. Material Universalists are far more likely to study historically known magical objects and be familiar with both pristine and decaying arcane machinations within Archaean and surface ruins. Expertise in various arcane reagents and materials is part and parcel of a materialist's studies, leading to a competency in engineering and construction principles.

Applied Universalism

Applied Universalists are experts at blending magic together or changing the form of magical spells through practice and application of magic, often using magic in profane or unusual and unexpected ways. The Applied Univeralists are the most likely to hone magic for direct use in commercial or industrial pursuits, harnessing the raw forces of magic to pursue specific ends.
