Northlands

The term Northlands is broadly used to describe the vast, broken expanse in Agela that stretches from the northern hills of the Riverlands to the unknown reaches of the far north. In the distant past, the Northlands were incorporated into the dominion of Desheret-Netjerr, one of the great powers of the Age of the Titans. Little now remains of that era beyond crumbled stonework and fading inscriptions.   The Northlands encompass several distinct regions.   At their heart lies the Osirion Wastes, a sun-bleached desert of isolated city-states, salt flats and crumbling ruins. To the south rise the Scorching Highlands, where jagged cliffs and searing winds create a natural barrier few have ever crossed. To the distant west spread the Outer Wastelands, a realm so barren and hostile that even the peoples of the Osirion Wastes call it forsaken.

History

200 BCE - Fall of Centuria
The empire of Centuria falls to an unknown cataclysm, its people vanishing. Some members of its knight order remain and become known as the Centurions.
1600 CE - The Al-Khetian Fracture
The death of Pharoah Queen Atenara in 1600 CE, brought about by a mysterious and unexplained illness, marked the beginning of the end of the Empire of Al-Khet. In the wake of her passing, Sethet-Ka rose to claim the title of Divine Pharaoh, but his ascension was contested and failed to unify the fracturing provinces.   Without a clear succession and amid mounting internal divisions, the once-mighty empire splintered. City-states, governors, and former provincial commanders asserted their own sovereignty, giving rise to the Free Cities of Al-Khet. While they claimed descent from imperial traditions, these cities operated independently, competing for influence over trade routes, river crossings, and abandoned imperial fortresses.
