Fremgraviate of Alianem

The Fremgraviate of Alianem is contituent of the Blazennian Empire, and populated by elves, and is one of the remnants of the Empire of Oleandron. Unlike the northern and central portions of Blazennia, elves largely replaced the original population of the modern Feuwood in southern Blazennia. The region had become depopulated during the many wars of the Empire of Oleandron, leaving it open for settlement and elven migrants, delighting in the warm coasts and fair woods, settled the region in some numbers. However, when the Westsfall happened, the elves of this region were mostly cut off from the rest of Oleandron, despite being nominally under East Oleandron. They would entirely detatch following the attempted coup which led to East Oleandron's race wars. At this point, prominent elves of the region formed a council, uniting the region under its loose governance. This is generally accepted as the founding point of Alianem, although it was a loose association of local leaders rather than a unified country. This union of Alianem covered most of the modern Blazennian province of Feulönd.
Such lack of organization is likely why Alianem's population was slowly pushed deeper into Feulönd by the Blazennian tribes. By the time Fraspika conquered central Blazennia, they were surrounded entirely by Blazennians. The pressure of additional Blazennian tribes moving into the area would irrevocably push Alianem's elves into the deeper forests, with lesser pockets becoming entirely split off. Thus, by the time the Blazennian Confederation was formed the remaining elves were largely confined to the northern sectors of the Feuwood, which remained a hotspot for trolls. The general map of Elven/Human settlement, not to mention the Eldritch resulting from mingling had made the region a maze of these groups, with enclaves, exclaves, counter-enclaves, and convoluted, snaking borders with multiple groups claiming regions. Both de jure and de facto borders were extremely confusing and few could agree on what exactly was the rightful territory of the various Blazennian tribes. or the elves.
This so-called "Elven problem" was a major issue during the formation of the Blazennain Empire, especially since some of these elven enclaves were right in the middle of the new constituents. Therefore, Varimar I resolved to negotiate with the elves in order to ensure they would peacefully integrate into the empire. He cut a deal with the elves, granting a population exchange and solidification of their borders (eldritch would be able to go wherever they wished), and allowed them to be self-governing to whatever degree they wished, including barring their borders as they pleased to any delegations not directly sent by the reigning emperor. Thus, the Fremgraviate of Alianem was formed as a subject to the Blazennian Empire in 1250. Several of the large elven exclaves were granted constituency status as well. This document served as a major basis for the The Imperial Treaty between the Telrai and the fledgeling Empire.
While engaging more with their surroundings than the befor their integration, Alianem has still maintained their strict policies allowing only elves and those with elven blood into their lands. Though they encourage cultural connection with the Blazennians, they look down upon those elves who may decide to marry humans or any of the other races of Blazennia. This guarded attitude and their isolation in the northern Feuwood means that Alianem has mainly stayed out of political disputes for the 700 years it has been a part of the empire, such as the magical education of the empire and including the recent Blazennian civil war. Although clearly more favorable towards Emberkeep, Emperor Csömbor I was unable to strip their seat- any sort of political attack on the minorities of the empire, especially one as apolitical as the elves, would be sure to bring his reign to an early end.
